Beautiful beach. Fantastic to walk your dogs and go swimming. However, DO NOT bother going to the shop. I have never, ever met such a rude man as the owner. The £3 ice cream really wasn't worth the abuse he shouted at me for daring to park in his car park!!!

The Gower is a great getaway with some amazing beaches. I went to Oxwich on a beautifully sunny day and had a great time. The beach is sandy, and the sea good for paddling and swimming.

We stayed at Greenways Leisure Park just up the hill from Oxwich, probably a walkable distance, but with an extremely steep hill we still decided to drive down, so we didn't have to walk all the way up at the end of the day. The parking was around £3-4 and it wasn't too busy. I didn't use the restaurant or shop, but regardless of the bad rap they have on here, this can't distract from this beach being one of the best in the area.

Always good to have beach with decent toilets! Beware the Coalhouse restaurant on the beach front , boy is that style over substance- served pot of tea for 2 with just 1 teabag. When pointed this out to staff was told that was what they were told to do!! Guess that is how they plan to make money. Shame because fabulous location but I guess they think they have a captive audience.

For over 40 years we have always loved Oxwich. It's beautiful, it's expansive, its' safe bathing for the children. And now it's been completely ruined by a plethora of inane people whose sole intention is to pose noisily on their jet skis. With scant regard for people bathing and children paddling at the water's edge these anti social machines and their riders spent the entire time that we were there spinning around in circles just yards from the water's edge. The owners of these machines, when they weren't ruining the peace of the bay, stood around in groups using foul language, again with no regard for the families with young children trying to enjoy themselves on the sand. And you're expected to pay £4 at the car park to enjoy a beach that has been completely spoiled. Avoid at all costs. Go to Horton and Port Eynon, go to Broughton, go to Burry Port - don't go to Oxwich until the authorities (Penrice Estate) who take your £4 do something to police these machines and make the water's edge safe again!

Spent the day at Oxwich Bay. Sand dunes to sunbathe in fringing the real beach. Beach sandy, lots of pretty pebbles and shells. Water shallow for quite a way so good for paddling, kiddies etc. Lots of watersports going on but plenty of room for everyone and far end nice & quiet. Also a woodland walk to headland if you get bored on beach. Facilities - 2 ice cream kiosks with hot food and beach shops. Had the chips from kiosk which were very good. Loos could do with an update but very glad to see them there. The old hotel is still there, they had a wedding on so didn't go in. Also, beautiful restaurant on the beach with great menu. I think it won awards. Again didn't eat there but had look in and look at menu - very impressive. Parking £3.50 for the day.
