“What a comedown!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I had not visited the centre for several years. Last time I was there, it had a nice little bookshop/cafe and a lovely restaurant. Both are now gone, replaced with nothing in particular. (I've heard the bookshop/cafe moved out when the rent became prohibitive.) Up the filthy stair carpet I went to the bar (not open) to wait for the event to start. Although the ticket said the doors opened half an hour before the start time, they were not open until five minutes before, so I sat and looked at the carpet in the bar, which was even worse than the stairs. Dirty glasses lay around on the windowsill. What an embarrassment this place has become. The only thing left is the Dylan Thomas exhibition, which, I admit, is quite good, despite the misspellings in some of the sign-boards.

“Interesting”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

Every person I spoke with at the Dylan Thomas Centre were very helpful in answering my questions and giving advice on further reading. The centre itself was easy to get around. The exhibits were informative without feeling too overwhelming. Seeing this place watching the films and listening to the recordings was fantastic, giving a very personal view. The shop and cafe were also great.

“Real taste of Dylan Thomas”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

Super for wallowing in all things Thomas. Could have sat for hours listening to Under Milkwood recording. Some personal memorabilia and associated artefacts - all interesting stuff. A big screen that wasn't working (not sure what we missed). Well worth a visit.

“Dylan would be proud”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

A superb exhibition, with a film from the 1950s, telling Dylan's life story.Sympathetically done. Marvellously evocative recordings using his own voice. Parallel display devoted exclusively to 'Under Milk Wood' using memorabilia from the past 60 years. Good selection of books in the shop and an extremely helpful, knowledgeable custodian on duty at reception. The young man was American or maybe Canadian and his enthusiasm for his subject was a joy!
