“good stay boyo...”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

Swansea Waterfront Premier Inn is a modern Hotel and is comfortable and has very good views. It gave us a good breakfast eat as much as you like for £8.75 with the usual premier fare at the Waterfront Restaurant. A bit too much fried food to have this every morning although there is a continental version for £6.25.
Premier Inn are at the top of my list for booking a nice quiet stay at a reasonable price as they offer great rooms, great beds, nice decorated rooms, comfy towels, good bathrooms and a good overnight experience. Mind you do have to like the colour purple. I am not sure about the wall pictures which are the same in nearly all Premier inn rooms. The one with the two Vincent Van Gogh like orange flowers. Mind you we have had such shocking stays at some other bed and breakfasts it is a welcome relief to find good ones for a change.

They do a combined meal deal for £22.99 breakfast and evening meal but it has to be on the same booked day, which is disappointing as we wanted this morning and same evening as we wanted to eat out other times and have this on the same day over a two day break. Funnily enough the computer said no! Why?

I could see my parked vehicle from the Council Car Park from our window which is always a relief. There is one Council car park in front and another behind the hotel both pay and display.
The Car Park fee is £2 on Sundays for 24 hours and £5.50 for the next 24 hours from 7.30 am from Monday if you arrive on Sunday. Bad points is I had to get up at 7 am to feed the car park pay and display meter. It would be nice if Swansea Council could make the docklands car park free as it would bring more tourists in and people generally to this once derelict area of the docklands which is now superb. I am sure it will bring in more customers to the pubs and eating areas by this part of the docks if the Council make it more appealing by not charging for the car park in my humble opinion. Councils are always looking at ways to raise revenue so they may end up raising the car park fees as compared to other places it is not expensive just inconvenient.

The Mumbles is a few miles from Swansea and you can walk there. The Mumbles is full of long stretches of beach with sand dunes and has benches dotted on the coastal paths. The beaches and paths are full of free roaming dogs and their owners, trippers, cyclists who like to just amble around to the sound of seagulls and sea air whilst the waves crash on the sea shore. This stretch of sand is really a hidden gem and a fantastic beach for the wonderer. The Welsh people we came across were also friendly. No sign of that chap from the Call Centre though.

Swansea town is good and near but we only walked around the streets for a few hours. There is a Sainsbury's in the city centre and it has Sainsbury's petrol station. There is a Tesco Express pretty much on the ground floor under the Hotel. There is also nice long safe invigorating walks on the promenade by the Premier Inn Waterfront Hotel.

A place to visit is Rhosilli village and bay as this is one of the best beaches in the world. It is about sixteen miles away. There were plenty of people travelling there by car on the Sunday. Rhosilli has a paying car park for £3 but also has a free church car park and donations were welcomed in a box on the wall. The small church also deserves a visit. The Church car park is only a small one and is on the way into the village. This stretch of bay has the most astonishing views and Rhosilli village is a lovely little jewel of what a Welsh village was and is like.

The day we went to Rhossili was a bit windy. To get to the bay we noticed there were several sloping paths to get down and steep paths up the mountain. It felt at times like we would be swept away by the mighty wind like tiny figures on this big landscape as we looked down on this bit of Welsh heaven.

Good clean rooms, new, modern, close to downtown Swansea, can walk from hotel, on waterfront, safe, parking next door for cheap cost, excellent service and for an extra $16 huge buffet cooked breakfast, where kids eat free!! I recommend this hotel, as it is also a very good price for what you get!!

I like premier inn's, we have stayed in a few.
Good Points - Clean, good bathroom, I like that they have a solid wood door in the bathroom rather than a frosted one that you see in other premier inn's. Nice bar and food area and good service. We had a nice view of the marina.
Bad Points - Check in is awful, it is done by using a check in machine, no personal service it felt cold and totally unwelcoming. There is a member of staff if you get stuck, but it left me feeling uncomfortable. Other premier inn's where they have a staffed reception have always been very welcoming and helpful with questions. You cannot ask a machine questions. Very off putting. I prefer dealing with a human please.
Also this is a big premier inn and it did feel a bit like a rabbit warren. Car parking is good but you have to pay £5.50 for 24 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our Hotel and glad to hear you were happy with the bathroom and hotel's facilities as well as the service you received. In regard to the kiosks, they are designed to make check in a quick and easy process for our guests, but appreciate they can take time getting used to.

We'll look forward to seeing you again

Took family to see friends and see some of Swansea. Room and hotel facilities good and only 15 minutes walk to all aspects of Swansea. Area around hotel is quiet and not much going on, but short walk gets you to Marina, museums, shops and a great swimming pool / leisure centre for the children. Hotel as you would expect good service and facilities. Allied to beefeater with usual fair. All the staff were very friendly.

I’ve stayed in several of Swansea’s hotels when visiting my son who is at Swansea University including Patricks (Mumbles) and The Marriott – both are excellent and highly recommended. I chose the Premier Inn this time due to cost (slightly cheaper than The Marriott) and have stayed in Premier Inn’s before.

Good points:
Location - The hotel is situated at the Waterfront close to Swansea Marina which leads to the beach – well worth a walk around, very beautiful.
Staff – exceptionally friendly, helpful and polite.
Room – spotless and tidy.
Restaurant/Breakfast – very nice fully cooked breakfast taken in hotel restaurant which overlooks the waterfront.
Tesco Express – if you have forgotten anything, Tesco is conveniently on the ground floor.

Grumbles:
Sign posting - Car park not sign posted and neither is the hotel entrance (situated on the side of the building).
Additional charge - As the car park doesn’t belong to the hotel there is a charge of £5.00 per day.
Safety - Hotel reception is located on the 1st floor which is accessed by hotel lifts/stairs – this means anyone can gain access to any of the hotel floors instead of going through reception first which is the norm for most hotels.
Room – This room was situated on the side of the hotel with beaming car park lighting shinning in. The hotel receptionist was very helpful in trying to find another suitable room but unfortunately non suitable/available. Unfortunately the room was also situated above the air conditioning units from the restaurant which were noisy as was all the rubbish being tipped into the large commercial bins. Due to the noise I didn’t sleep.

Room Tip: Avoid room 211.

Have stayed at this Premier several times when visiting our daughter in Swansea and it's a good quality, food is good too and very friendly service. We have stayed at several Premier's and this definitely one of the better ones and most are very good anyway.
