“A very pleasent 4 night stay”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

My partner & I stayed here with our then 4 year old daughter for 4 nights in October 2013 while visiting family in Swansea. We were really pleased with the hotel and cant fault it at all to be honest. Tea bags, cups, sugar etc was replenished every day, beds were made and cleaned every day. As we were visiting family we werent in the rooms for an extensive amount of time but to sleep in and spend a couple of hours in the evening in to wind down they were fine for.
The breakfast was lovely and the staff cannot be more polite!! Extremely friendly and the cant do enough for you.
I was a little worried about the hotel being so near to the town but we all had a good nights sleep with no disturbments.
We took our daughter swimming a couple of times which was a nice extra to have in the hotel.
The staff are very friendly and always willing to help whether its an extra pillow or in our case leaving behind our swimming costumes in the room and them posting them back to England for us!!
We would 100% stay here agin. Thank you for a pleasent stay.

This was a 2 night break with friends , which included their New Years Eve Gala Dinner & Dance.
1. Car Parking was free in the hotel car park, the barrier system was u/s, which may have given security issues but we had no problems.
2. We were allocated Room 218 on the second floor. The room itself was very nice, modern decor, comfortable and very clean with good facilities. The problem was the view, or lack of it. The only windows were high in the room giving a view only of the sky. Occupants of the local Swansea Prison, probably have a better view. I assumed that the hotel was full over the Bank Holiday and did not ask for a room change. However by the lack of people at breakfast, I suspect it was far from full, so I made a mistake in not requesting a room change!!
3. The Gala Dinner was excellent with respect to the menu, quality of the food, service & entertainment. There was no midnight Piper, but I suppose Swansea is a long way from Scotland.
4. Breakfast was of excellent quality on both days, served in a very attractive Restaurant. Service was a little chaotic on New Years Day e.g. Cooked breakfasts delivered to table before the porridge, but it was " the morning after the day before" and put it down to overenthusiastic staff!!??
5. Service in the hotel was however generally good with all staff appearing friendly and helpful.
6. The weather was awful, but the hotel cannot be held accountable for that and we counted ourselves lucky compared to those poor souls flooded over the New Year.

Overall, a nice break - a pity about the view!

Room Tip: Keep away from the second floor at the back of the hotel

I was there for a small conference which included a dinner in the hotel, one large and one small meeting. From my perspective it was ideal. The Staff laid out the meeting rooms as we wanted and were on hand to sort out any difficulties. The dinner was excellent, held in a private room - and even though we were somewhat late in coming in we never felt rushed by the Staff.

The fitness suite was very good and well above that of the average hotel with a reasonably sized swimming pool and I made use of both facilities - there are other facilities such as saunas which I did not have time to use.

Wi-fi was available throughout the hotel though I did have some minor difficulty in gaining access which was quickly sorted out by a call to Reception.

My room had a reasonable sized double bed, an open wardrobe with an iron and ironing board. There were tea making facilities with a working area and chair adjacent and there was an armchair. The room generally was clean but especially the bathroom which was well lit with a bath with a particularly efficient over-bath shower and a well illuminated mirror. The available TV channels seemed somewhat limited, but time to explore in detail was lacking!

I would be happy to come again.

This was the 2nd year we held our Christmas party at the Dragon and had booked for this Dec as soon as we returned to work in Jan 2013! We opted again for the lunch with disco and weren't disappointed. We were a party of approx 55 and shared the room with 3 other large parties. We should have eaten at 1pm but due to one of the other parties being quite late (rude!) this didn't happen.....the food wasn't spoiled though and was delicious, the table service was very well organised and all the staff were lovely. The afternoon disco was fab, though the time went far too quickly as it did last year, and it was soon time to hit Wind Street. It's a perfect location for a mid-afternoon Christmas party and we hope to book again for next year, looking forward already :-) My only reason for not giving a '5' for value is that the bar is quite expensive....£4.95 for a single spirit & mixer is a little too much, in my opinion.

We had a set christmas menu and had soup to start, not sure it was homemade as tasted like it came from a tin. The main meal was lovely, very hot, and tasty, the service was excellent and considering we had a large party was delivered quickly. The pudding was cheesecake and was acceptable and presented nicely. We were in a room with at least eight other parties which was very cramped whilst eating, First impressions count a lot to my husband and myself and we were not overly impressed. We will not be going back.

We were a group of 5 friends who had booked this Xmas lunch months ago, and I wish we hadn't bothered. I have never had such abysmal food. The quiche starter was bland and unseasoned. The main course consisted of tough, tasteless beef, burnt roast potatoes, a soggy frozen Yorkshire pudding, hard frozen sprouts, and a bowl containing half cooked carrots, mangetout and broccoli. Two of our group had a turkey dinner which they both left on the plate. Although we complained nothing was done. I wrote a letter to the Manager saying how disappointed we were with the food and received a letter back basically saying I was mistaken. We will never eat a Christmas dinner at the Dragon again.

We stayed for one night at the Dragon and were very pleased with our stay.

The staff were fantastic and made us feel at home from the moment we walked in. Our room was clean, completely spotless in fact. I think the mattress has seen better days and is due for a change but overall was very comfortable to sleep in.

The breakfast was fantastic, really nice range of food on offer for the continental although I opted for the cooked breakfast! The hotel is in a great location, literally a 5 minute walk from Swansea station and opposite the town centre.

We decided to give the spa a go - my boyfriend got a back massage whilst I picked the exfoliating scrub, both of which were great value for money. The sauna and swimming pool were also fantastic, really can't complain about a hotel with these.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Dragon and would certainly stay again in the future.
