We arrived at the Marriott Swansea and was impressed at the bar/ reception area, even though we noticed that there was a wedding going on, with guests all over the reception area. When we arrived at our £125 a night room we were very disappointed, the double bed wasn't a double bed, it was tiny, the room was way to hot to sleep and the music and noise from the wedding reception was also interrupting our sleep, on the second night of our stay there was another wedding reception with more loud music and drunk guest taking over the reception area. I would not mind this is it was a budget hotel such as a travel lodge but for a total price of £250 pounds i found it very upsetting. We booked this holiday to relax and refresh our self's, but we left the place extremely exhausted because of the lack of sleep we experienced. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as it was £15.00 each! which was ridiculously expensive. For £250 pounds we could have had a weekend in the hilton or a holiday cottage. The hotel is very tired , the bathroom was tiny and the air conditioning was so old fashioned! A room in the Premier inn is better than the room we had, I shall not be returning again, I feel robbed!

I like the Marriott in Swansea as it is close to the beach, not to say, at the beach. The hotel is classical Marriott style, the rooms comfortable and clean. The bar is very nice and relaxing even on rainy afternoons ;D. The restaurant and bar services are very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The parking is directly infront of the hotel entrance. The marina is around the courner and the next shopping possibilities are in a few minutes by car. The same is applicable for the old centre of Swansea. I only can recommend to stay there.

There is nothing wrong with the hotel. But there is nothing to set it apart from the others or define it. So nothing particularly great about it either. It lacks the "wow" factor completely. On the upside - It was clean, the breakfast was pretty good and although they were extremely busy, it was pretty well organized. Check in was very good and overall the staff are up to the job. On the downside - I did not get the type of bed I had been guaranteed, the room was freezing cold as they have that antiquated method of heating which has to be switched on - something like a fan coil I assume, 1 bar of soap, empty minibar - why bother having it in the room at all if you are not going to stock it - and I object very strongly to paying for wifi nowadays - although that was not the individual hotel's fault, as one pays for wifi in a Marriott. (Stupidly....) VFM - not really, compared to similar hotels in the area but we stayed there as the location was perfect for visiting someone who lives almost next door. It is ok - in my opinion, lacking in character and nothing exceptional, but passable.

Having just come back from Wales for a weekend of seeing friends, I have to say we were most underwhelmed at the quality of this Marriott. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself felt very tired and low rent.

The room was pretty comfortable, but a whistling fan in the bathroom was extremely annoying, and it beats my why one of the cleaners hasn't reported it so that it could be fixed, seems a little lazy really. Typical small bathroom, although the room itself was quite large, furniture and room appointments were OK. Bed very soft indeed and meant that every movement from one person was amplified to the other side of the bed. Pillows were of varying quality, but on the whole quite average.

We were glad it wasn't a hot day, as the advertised air conditioning was very old fashioned, and wasn't very cool at all, it's a particular pet hate of mine with hotels, if you have air conditioning, you should maintain it properly so that it works, after all, even the budget hotels in the USA have fantastic AC!

Housekeeping was very sloppy, after our room was serviced; soap wrappers and empty coffee cups were still there.

The restaurant had a very limited menu, with perhaps 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts which was very odd given that the in room dining menu was far more extensive.

The hotel has very limited seating where you can just sit and have a quiet read of a book or the paper, the seating area is directly adjacent to the hotel entrance and with only a few seats. This hotel is a venue hotel, and a wedding reception was being held during our stay, this meant lots and lots of very drunk people roaming around reception which can be extremely off putting if you want to sit somewhere quietly and have a drink. As a smoker I was banished to Gazebo which is at the front of the hotel, this is the norm nowadays, and not a problem, however, as the evening went on, the Gazebo was overtaken by revellers, which were becoming increasingly more drunk as the evening went on.

A hotel is a home away from home, and as such you should feel comfortable in it, well, sufficed to say we didn’t, and were very disappointed. All in all, not really what I'd expect of a Marriott, we certainly wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else for dinner, the restaurant has a very limited menu. Try and book a room as far away from the venue rooms, as the noise can travel.
