“Great Meal”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

Went here at the start of October with my family to celebrate my 60th Birthday.

We had an excellent meal and a very enjoyable evening.

It is expensive to eat out here with two courses costing £35.00 and £45.00 for three, with wine and drinks it soon adds up.

“A bit of a disappointment”
Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

Food was fine...service on the day we called in was sloppy and unexceptional for a venue of this standard. Staff seemed unsure about what they were doing or when to do it...they muddled through but that was about it. A pity. Will we be rushing back on the strength of what we experienced...probably not!

“Same menu every night for hotel guests”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Stayed here for a weekend and meals are inclusive, no option. I was hence dismayed on the 2nd night to find no variety in the menu offered. For one night the choice was adequate but the limited menu makes long stays at this pricey hotel not a good option. The rooms were very comfortable and the food well prepared and cooked. The service was adequate. The wine list is a bit pricey for what is on offer. Not sure I would revisit.

“Beautiful place, slightly pretentious food however”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

My wife and I visited Fairy Hill a few years ago for lunch, and were amazed by the beauty of the place - stunning scenery, exquistite decor, the finest quality furniture. Service was exceptional, the Maitre d providing us with menus, drinks and hors d'ouevres in the lounge area prior to showing us to our table. One slight drawback was the food selection and prices, it is a bit extravagant and if you're not the greatest fish lover like me the choice is limited. I opted for the burger which arrived slightly underdone, but the accompanying chips were excellent. Overall not quite the best food to warrant 5 star, but an immaculate restaurant nevertheless.

“Unbelievably good”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

Paul, you surpassed our expectations yet again. And how do you manage to serve such tasty and exciting food for the price - don't increase the prices though!!! And don't reduce the quality.

I had a chicken and duck liver parfait for the starter. The taste was fantastic and the presentation was superb. Gala has buttersquash and coconut soup. That soup really did have the wow factor.

The lamb you sourced from Paul Tucker in Penclawdd for my main course was well cooked and tender. And the mix of vegetables to accompany the main course was inspired. We buy from Paul too so we know that he wouldn't supply any customer with anything less than scrumptious lean meat. Gala had the chicken breasts and she was licking her lips long after the meal, as she enjoyed it so much.

I had the apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert, and Gala had the ice cream with pistachio, espresso and sherry. The only problem was that we were so full from the first two courses that we were too full to really enjoy the dessert. They were very tasty though, and we did finish them.

Gala had a glass of chardonay with her meal and she said it was the perfect compliment to her meal. I had a glass of Thomas Watkins OSB. A good real ale.

We were so full and so satisfied at that point that we couldn't manage an after lunch cup of tea/coffee. We went down to Rhossili for an afternoon walk instead.

Brilliant guys. What more can we say?
