Wyndgarth House, Reynoldston Gower SA3 1AD
Wales Tourist Board 5* Bed & Breakfast
http://www.wyndgarth.co.uk/

About 40min’s drive from Swansea (A4118). A well earned star rating: we received a warm welcome from Lynda & John Twells on our arrival Monday 14th June. We were helped with our bags to our room, which was a nice touch. Carol settled up the bill before we moved in, unusual I know, but it seems that they had been forced into making that move. The bill had to be paid anyway, so get it over & done with. The Room with en-suite is large, facing south with a good view of the countryside. We had tea/coffee making facilities &, as a nice little bonus, a small decanter of sherry to help us chill out from our journey. The bed is made up & clean bath & hand towels are supplied daily. A breakfast menu sheet with tick boxes is left in your room, Fill in the number of portions you want & leave the sheet on the table in the hall; this is a good way of reducing waste food. Cereals, fresh fruit (including strawberries from the garden), a choice of yoghurts & orange juice for starters. I would like to add here that I was well catered for with my breakfast requests. Lynda & John went that extra mile, & then some. Nothing was too much trouble. The dining room is spacious, clean & bright catering for six guests.
Our next door neighbours were two horses in a field, also shared with pheasants & other birds. Swifts or Swallows I’m not sure which, were nesting above us & their activity was interesting to watch. The road which runs by the house is very narrow, not much wider than a bus in places; the same can be said about many of the roads in the area, so extra care is needed when driving or walking
The King Arthur Hotel in the village do a good meal, quantity & quality are good, the prices are reasonable as well. Booking is advisable for the restaurant, although the same meals are served in the bar & outside, prices are the same. However, on our second visit, we had nearly 45min’s wait before our food arrived. There was a couple who had their meal in two shifts, the lady was served first, & some 30min’s later the gent had his. Not the best way to run a business, but as the meals were paid for in advance they felt there was not a great deal they could do. Had they booked the restaurant, the bill would have been paid after the meal; they then would have had the choice of walking out after complaining to the management.
There is little to see in Reynoldston, but it is a good base for touring the Gower. There is something for everyone, from quiet country & coastal walks, to city life & all it has to offer in Swansea.

Thank Peter S
