A group of us went to Garuda for the first time and will be sure to go back again.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful offering us a way of keeping our wine chilled. The bring your own wine policy is great as you can bring whatever you want and any quantity, a great way of saving some pennies!

The food itself is truly outstanding, Since my trip to Thailand I have found no Thai red curry which has come close to that which I had there, Garuda on the other hand was even better! The chicken satay starters are also a most definite must have. They are delicious! For the size of portions and quality of food the price is very reasonable.

I could not recommend any restaurant more, by far the best in Swansea. I regularly eat at Indonesian restaurants but this one is in a league of its own.

It has been a while since I visited Garuda's (not sure why but certainly won't leave it so long again). We were a party of 4 and we all thoroughly enjoyed every course. The food was fresh, beautifully cooked and presented.

The front of house service was superb and we were made to feel so welcome. They were able to talk us through the menu explaining the various dishes, and looked after and served out wine when we requested.
Thank you all for a lovely night and wish you continued success

Myself & 6 friends booked Garuda restaurant for our annual Christmas-time meal.
We were welcomed as soon as we walked in, our cosy table was ready for us and the very lovely front of house gentleman offered to take our wine to keep cool in their fridge (the restaurant has a bring-your-own alcohol policy).
Throughout the evening the staff checked if we needed another bottle, so we never had to ask.
We chose to order 6 different main dishes so we could mix&match as there was too much choice to decide! It was delicious food, and all 7 of us girls managed to demolish the lot, with 2 of our group having room for dessert - the rest of us were too full from the amount of food served! We also had noodles and rice to go with our main dishes, and opted for satay chicken/beef and spring rolls for starters.
I will definitely return to this restaurant as the food quality and service provided by all staff was outstanding. Great value for money.

A group of us went to this place & the spring roll starters were fabulous. We ordered vegetarian gado gado which I have had before & it is usually lovely however they have changed it so instead of a peanut buff sauce with colourful veg it was dark gravy granules liquid with a load of cabbage, tofu few beans, beansprouts. It is extremely loud so we could not hear each other with smoky air. We were seated practically in front of the main door entrance, the staff were friendly enough, even offering advice on the dishes. My friend sat not eating her food, when it was taken away it was clear she had not really eaten but no question was asked as to perhaps why she had not enjoyed her food, so I asked why they have changed the recipe & they said the customers requested it, after denying that they had changed it. Gravy is cheaper than the peanut sauce I guess & they did not offer anything like a coffee as way of compensation. We will not go back..its a great shame it has gone down hill fast as it used to be good! Cost wise £80 for 5 of us for starters & mains..needless to say we did not bother with desserts.

PeterWJ, Front Office Manager at Garuda Indonesian Restaurant, responded to this reviewResponded December 12, 2013

We take customer feedback very seriously – both bad and good reviews – though we naturally hope that an evening at the Garuda will be both a memorable and an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case for this person and we regret it very much, especially since the person in question has been to the restaurant on previous occasions and has always enjoyed the experience. However, I would like to take this opportunity to comment on a few things mentioned. The table the group was given was the one requested at the time of the booking (“the table in front of the coffee machine”). The restaurant was packed the night they came and, being Christmas and a small restaurant, the noise level was probably higher than on their last visit. The restaurant is very small so when everyone is talking the sound does tend to echo. But the main complaint seems to be about the dish ordered, namely gado-gado. This is the favourite vegetarian dish by far and is often commented on in the reviews we get. The recipe hasn’t changed, but this particular batch was agreeably slightly darker and thicker than usual. However, the sauce is made from crushed peanuts and to suggest that gravy was used instead is both false and misleading. Six other customers had gado-gado that evening and all seemed to enjoy it. But that doesn’t change the fact that this customer was disappointed with the meal and we are very unhappy about this. All we can do is apologize for this fact and to hope that she will come back and try the gado-gado again with this guarantee – that if she doesn’t like it, she will not have to pay for it!
