A great place to enjoy a special treat. The hotel is lovely as you would expect. The place was being spruced up when we were there due to the NATO summit. Security was building however this did not seem to effect the level of service or feel of the place. Excellent golf and happy helpful staff.

Four of us booked in to play the 2010 course. On arrival although we should have had coffee and a bacon roll none were available. They were unable to organise rolls but we did get warm coffees before departing for the warm up area. We did not have the usual tour of the locker room and everything was very rushed. After warming up on the driving range, pitching green and putting green, all of which were in good condition we took our carts for the start. The official photographer took photographs and off we went. Could not take carts on the fairways, long walks back and fore, no tees or pencils provided in cart, work was taking place on the course with a digger in one bunker blocking the view of the green and hassled along to keep up with pace of play.
The golf was an experience and course was wet but good greens were superb.
After the round our clubs were washed and cleaned, which was a good touch.
As part of the package we had a two course meal in Rafters which was good but should have had complimentary drinks in place of the missing bacon rolls
The medallions we are given have shrunk in size and now only had our initials instead of our names.
A good day but the little touches and extras were missing which could have made it a great day

Myself and my family visited the Christmas kingdom last night for the very first time, it's a real shame they have lost the true meaning of Christmas to make a profit, don't get me wrong my little girl who is 7 loved it and it's about the little ones it's just a pity the staff didn't feel the same as the children with the excitement, the lady who greeted us at the front desk was lovely so freindly with the children and also so was Mrs Clause, for the elfs they just stood around not even a smile from most of them and didn't really interacted with any of the children which was a shame as they are also a part of the magic, it was very much like being on a conveyour belt just kept moving along to the next stage, when it got time to meet Santa clause he was lovely very freindly with the children and they had a soft toy this year which my daughter did love, you are unable to take photos when meeting Santa so naturally you are going to buy the photo of you little one with him, one photo was £8 up to £16 for a set of photo also in this area is the reindeers not much room for them to move around, if you are going with younger children of course they will enjoy but being an adult it's just like a set that's been put together with no magic at all, garden centre's put together a far better Christmas scene and know true meaning of it, every year we travel to Clearwell Caves that sure is magical and will now continue to always go each year now after last night, such a shame the one of Wales number one hotels have got it so wrong and it's all about the money and not about the children or the families they are with.

My boyfriend surprised me with a night at the Celtic Manor for my birthday and from the moment we pulled up outside the main hotel i was impressed. A porter immediately took our luggage, gave us advice on where to eat and how we could get there avoiding the rain (this place is huge and it took us 15 mins to walk from our room to dinner!) The room was extremely warm and comfortable with a large bathroom and very good shower. Views from the balcony were stunning.
We ate at the Le Patio restaurant which as the name suggests is French. The staff were very attentive and knowledgable and couldn't do enough for you. Choose the crepes for dessert if you want to see a flambé show at your table!
The breakfast was very good and had something to suit every appetite. Try not to leave going down until the last hour for breakfast as it does get busy and you may have to queue a short while.
Use of the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are complimentary to guests staying at the hotel, towels are provided. We had to leave around lunch time but could have stayed in there all day!
Overall a very impressive hotel as you would expect from somewhere that hosted the rider cup. I only wish we'd had more time to explore!

12 of us stayed & played on the £99 winter deal, we played the 2010 then B&B then played the Montgomerie on day 2. On day 1 the service was fantastic (just like USA) our clubs were taken down to the 1st tee then we were shown to our personalised locker, we had a shuttle bus to the 1st tee where we had complimentary range balls as well as a complimentary buggie. Group & individual photos were taken & we were off to play a cracking course, I loved it. Some areas were a bit boggy but I guess it's to be expected in mid November , that aside the course was in great nick. When finished our clubs were cleaned, sonicated & taken to the Montgomerie course for collection the next day.
The hotel was fantastic & breakfast was lovely, all the staff were great especially the lovely lady who upgrade me !!!!
Day 2 was not quite as good as far as service goes as range balls & buggies were an extra cost but other than that it was great, the Montgomerie was a great track, we all enjoyed it especially the views on the 3rd hole ! All in all a wonderful 2 days, we will be back next year !
