Birthday surprise - overnight stay and two rounds of golf. Just cannot fault! Wonderful golf courses and the service throughout the whole place was second to none. 5* everything - what more can I say?

This place is set up for golfers. The 2010 course is superb, the facilities excellent and the staff first class. Most golfers will play as part of a package with the Roman Road course or the Montgomerie they are by no means equal, the Montgomerie is far superior in terms of challenge and interest by comparison the Roman Road is dull and when we played the bunkers had no sand in them!
On arrival at the Manorhouse the staff member at reception was not helpful and we ended up walking with our golf gear to the Lodge which is about a mile away. This was ridiculous given the free courtesy buses which are brilliant but he failed to mention them or tell us how far the courses were! This was not a good start to what was otherwise a great experience.
Another member of staff at the Manorhouse was similarly in need of training- to continue with a long phone call without even acknowledging our presence was just rude.
Having said that I would definitely go back again.

This hotel is a five star establishment which boasts three golf courses, all of which have been designed to international competition standard and held the 2010 Ryder Cup competition. In the main hotel are three restaurants. The Olive Tree restaurant has buffet service, and costs approximately 30 gbp per person but the quality of the food is of a very high standard and the selection is wide and varied. The Crown Restaurant caters for fine dining and again the food is of a very high standard. The Manor Restaurant is a la carte and is of a French bistro lay out - the dishes are very good whilst I consider the cost of the dishes to be a little on the high side.
The Golf Club has it's own restaurant and menu and again provides a very good service coupled with food of a high quality. Golf enthusiasts can also purchase snacks to sustain them during their 18 holes.
The last restaurant is in the "2010" which is situated at the end of the Ryder Cup Course. The food theme here is also themed as fine dining. The 2010 was built specifically for the Ryder Cup and is a splendid building to just relax in the bars and restaraunt or as a base for your game of golf on the Ryder Cup Course.
All the courses provide spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and has to be one of the best sites to view the city of Newport, The Usk Valley and on a clear day you can see the Sugar Loaf Mountain at Abergavenny some 17 miles up to the North.
The facilities provided at the hotel are wide and extensive with tree top rope climbs, health and beauty spas, gymnasiums, walking and cycling trails.
The hotel also owns the Newbride on Usk public house which is now a fine dining restaurant and is located on the banks of the River Usk with spectacular views.
For those who love the country, this is the place to stay. It is luxury in the middle of countryside. The staff go the extra yard to ensure your visit is a favourably memorable one.

Arrived earlier than should but was able to get into hotel with a quick unpack before teeing off on the Roman Road. My handicap is 33 and I found this a tricky course. Very cold wind and snow in places. Good nights sleep in lovely hotel spa in the morning for 1 1/2 hours then super breakfast. Tee off on the Famous Twenty ten course lovely experience but a cold day wind blowing up the valley with no perfection. Would love to play this course again in better weather. Nice clubhouse for a expensive drink afterwards.

This is a fantastic golf resort. The courses were in immaculate condition even during a cold and wet spring. The staff are very friendly and professional. We played the Montgomerie course which was a challenging layout, very glad we chose buggies for the hills! The following day we played the Twenty Ten course and that was a fantastic experience having been to see the 2010 Ryder Cup. Certainly a very good test of golf!
