I last went on this bridge when I was a boy some 40 years ago and it seemed old then. Actually now it doesn't seem so old when you look at it as it's obviously had some money spent on it. To re-visit after such a long time was just terrific. It hasn't changed at all from memory, but the trip across the Usk seems to go so quickly. It holds just six cars . At just £1 per car it's extremely good value. Foot passengers are just 50p. It's a marvel of engineering and well worth a visit, but a little bit difficult to find, so please Newport Council PUT SOME SIGNS UP!!!

This iconic and extremely rare type of bridge is makes a fabulous place to visit. It is still in operation for most of the year but nowadays only in a scaled down way, as it is operated now more like a museum piece by Newport Council. If you've got a head for heights, it's well worth bying a ticket to walk across the top of it! Amazing - if a tad windy.

We decided to visit here on recommendation of a friend. It was only a pound to take the car over and it is actually really quick to cross. It is an amazing piece of engineering and well worth visiting if in the area. It wasn't busy when we crossed so had plenty of space between the cars to wander around. When its busy there is a seating area where you can get out of your car and sit in.
