We went to The Celtic Manor for Sunday lunch with family last weekend and it was delicious! Carvery/buffet style set up with a fantastic selection of starters - meats, salads, breads, mini tartlets, bruschetta, fish etc. Sunday lunch was a selection of meats (beef, pheasant, duck, turkey) vegetables, potatoes and vegetarian options too (the nut roast was delicious). The dessert table offered a range of individual sweets, Welsh cheeses, biscuits and chutney, again, delicious! The lemon tart and orange macaroons were gorgeous! The service was very good, attentive waiters/waitresses and the atmosphere was great which was enhanced by the brilliant resident pianist. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely return again soon.

Have uploaded a few pictures of bathroom, as they are always lovely.
stayed in room 1052 . Great few. great room.
Did take pictures of the room as-well, but wife deleted them by mistake when she was looking at them .,
Love the Celtic manor, staff and place are great, cant believe its only number 2 in the list?
the holiday inn express beats it?? NAH not a chance in hell. the express is newish, but is not 5star,
Celtic Manor is truly a FIVE STAR hotel.

Room Tip: room 1052 great room, great view.

We stayed here for a night en route to somewhere else. We go a special deal which made a expensive hotel more affordable.
Our room was a reasonable size with a fantasic bathroom. Dinner was alright, a bit of a limited choice, but nothing special. Breakfast had more choice. One bonus was that we were able to use the spa after we;d checked out. We left our bags with the consierge and went off for a bit of a swim.
The deal we got made staying here better value for money than it would have been if we'd paid the normal rate, in which case it would have been very disappointing.

We stayed at the Celtic Manor for my birthday. My boyfriend organised it as a suprise. The hotel looks very impressive inside but was extremely disappointed with our room. We were on the 10th floor and there was a fan running on top of our room constantly with was extremely noisy. I rang reception and they said they would send someone from maintenance up, they never arrived so I rang again and we ended up moving rooms in the middle of the night. The next morning we mentioned it to the manager at reception who didn't care or seem bothered about our experience of the hotel. Food was nice but very expensive. Definitely overrated hotel and overpriced.

If you are looking for 5 star luxury this is NOT the hotel for you. I have stayed in better 3 stars!
The location and reception/ bar areas will take you breath away they are stunning.
Then you open the door to your bedroom OMG to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The first room I was given when I checked in was on the tenth floor the room was very small and dingy with a big stain on what should have been a cream coloured carpet. We decided to have an upgrade as we thought that it could only get better!! We were then given an superior room on the 7th floor although the room was bigger it was no better decorated I would say it was worse!! There was 3 holes in the wall were something once hung? Chipped furniture, and a cheap standing up lighter which only the wall was keeping it up right!!!
The breakfast was edible and the staff I encounter were friendly
On checking out I was asked how my stay was? On telling the receptionist of my findings in rooms she answered well the hotel was built in the 1980,s ??? To which I answered I stayed in the Waldorf Astoria New York and that was built in the1920,s and they manage to keep that clean and tidy and luxurious !!!!
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I will NEVER return
