“Just right for Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

A nice atmosphere when we visited with a mix of several large family groups and couples. We opted for the traditional beef and Yorkshire pudding and it was good, with several different vegetables served separately. Three different desserts on our table and all were very tasty.

A good bottle of Merlot and we agreed it was a perfect Sunday lunch

“Excellent service”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

My friend and I went here for lunch recently and we were impressed with the friendly and attentive service. Despite being the only person on duty, the waitress who served us went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. For example, when we commented that the mains we had last time were no longer on the menu she went to speak to the chef to see if he could make them for us, which he then did. The food arrived quickly and was excellent. My only criticism is that some of the specials on the menu board are relatively expensive, especially the fish dishes.

“This building reflects the history of this great port”
Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

The Waterloo was built as a hotel to house the sea captains when their ships were in port and to water the sailors in what was reputed to be the longest bar in the UK. Half the bar is now gone but the bar back remains as part of the decor.

The building seemed to be on a downward spiral until six years ago it was rescued and renovated and is now a boutique hotel and restaurant.

It ticks all the boxes, a fascinating building, good food and I understand a good hotel.

Well worth a visit and in Winter when you leave you have the superb spectacle of the floodlit engineering marvel that is the Transporter Bridge.
