Description: Situated in the heart of Cardiff Bay, close to the Wales Millennium Centre, Woods Bar & Brasserie is one of the most popular restaurants in Cardiff. This vibrant establishment offers a relaxed and friendly dining experience, and is renowned for its excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The cuisine is Modern European, in the capable hands of Executive Chef Sean Murphy, who has previously worked at 2 and 3 starred Michelin restaurants, including Chez Nico and Gordon Ramsay. Woods Brasserie also offers a reasonably priced table d’hote lunch menu, which is extremely popular with business clientele. We love the roasted scallop and confit pork belly with cauliflower puree, and the Mediterranean vegetable and goat cheese strudel with smoked paprika and tomato sauce.

“Great Christmas Meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

My wife & I were at Woods as part of a party of about 30 people for a Christmas meal. We both had the same starters and mains. The starter was slow cooked calf cheek with roasted plums in Mulled wine. It was beautifully presented and was a great start to the evening. The mains was a chestnut & parmesan crusted woodland pork loin, with chestnut puree, garlic fine beans & jus. In honesty as we had put our order in weeks before all we could remember was that we were getting pork loin! We were unaware of the crust and have no memory of the parmesan :-) The chestnut puree and jus were delicious and the pork was cooked beautifully. The selection of vegetables and new potatoes were a little sparse for the table and by the time further supplies arrived everyone had finished their course, which was a shame.

For dessert I had a selection of cheeses, biscuits and chutney and I was delighted with the choice. My wife had pomegranate panna cotta, dark chocolate sorbet which she loved.

Great food, good service would definitely return!

“90th Birthday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

Booked for a surprise birthday meal. Staff were excellent and very helpful with all the arrangements. Excellent meal and lovely birthday cake. Service was very friendly and we were given plenty of time and not rushed despite it being a busy saturday night.

“Delicious food, beautifully presented, charmingly served.”

We had the £20 lunch, and our title says it all. A lovely meal, and good value. Turned a stroll around The Bay into a treat of a day.

“Great value 3 courses £20”

Quality meal, good service and overall great value. Lacking in atmosphere somewhat but this is mid-week! Fish and chips were delicious. Central location with car parking opposite.

“always good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013

I have eaten at woods many times over the years and have enjoyed all of my food, the service has also been very good. The struggle for me is the fact that the toilets are upstairs and with bad legs its difficult to go up and down.
