Arrived late, had to park on double yellows opposite the pub to ask the way into their car park. Not clearly signposted if at all. Drove down a side street to get in only to be partially blocked by some numbskull who had parked such that it was not possible to turn right into where I wanted to be. Managed to turn left and reverse and circumnavigated the miscreant to get to the car park. Good parking area. Eventually managed to get into the reception, otherwise known as the bar. Place very noisy and having to shout to get the attention of the bar staff. The manager came and told us there was a little problem with the room as the curtain rail had partially come down the previous night, and he'd had no time to get any one to it. Managed our way upstairs and as you would guess there was a problem with the curtain rail because as you drew the curtains the left one slipped to the middle sagging and the right one when drawn did exactly the same and lo and behold the rail came down. Went downstairs and told the wife/partner of the manager and if looks could kill I would have been dead on the spot. Thankfully the manager was a bit more obliging and went straight away to effect a repair. Successful with this he apologised accordingly and left us to it. We then really had no option but to go to the bar and listen to the very loud music as had we gone to bed we wouldn't have been able to sleep because of it, back to the room for the night very cold in the room considering it was November one would have expected the heating to be on but it wasn't and rather than incurring the wrath of the partner (discretion being the better part of valour) wrapped up in the bed partially clothed and slept through until morning. Went to the bathroom to find the shower mat grubby is a generous description and soap dispenser with a short and curly on it, (yuk) Breakfast, good selection of cereals, although there were a number of bottles on the table completely unidentified and got pointed in the direction of the milk. Fruit (black bananas) probably been there a month or so, cooked breakfast nothing to right home about, paid the bill never to return. Would have probably been better sleeping on the sofa at the halls of residence where my daughter stays. Never again.
