“Cardiffs Ambassadors!!!”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

After travelling around England Scotland and Wales for 32 days we can say without doubt Alan and Liz are the epitome of the perfect hosts. They provided us with outstanding service, great local knowledge of dining options for evening and lunch outings. They could easily be New Zealands best kept secret for a perfect stopover in Wales using their lovely restored terrace home as a base. Thanks for such a pleasant time. Regards Mary and Bob

When I'm in Cardiff, I always look for this quaint authentic well kept Victorian house. This is the place where every detail is thought of. Can easily be called a "home away from home". Alan & Liz sure make you feel at ease, to ask for any minor personal need. Yes, this is one of those places where you enter as a hesitant guest, but reluctantly leave as a friend. / Well done Alan & Liz - keep up the healthy friendly atmosphere.Vincent form MALTA

Room Tip: Ideal for a family vacation. Always ask for the family room. Truly a "home away form home"...

We have some experience of B&B in Cardiff as our son is at university there and we have stayed at a few in Cathedral Road. However, we'll stick at Number62 from now on! The house is ideally placed for the park, the Taff trail and the bay with the stadiums and town centre only a five minute walk away. We arrived as a family – two parents plus three sons aged 16–21 and four bicycles. We were fitted into two reasonable sized adjacent en-suite rooms while the bikes were locked up in the rear garden. Confusingly for a B&B there's no breakfast but we far prefer the freedom of getting up when we wish and eating where we want. Similarly the owners maintain a discreet distance, available if required, but you don't feel like you are tip-toeing around a private house. With kids and families that's just great.

I would recommend the rooms in this lovely B&B to all humans. Birds may want to give it a miss as the ceiling fan can whizz round at a frightening speed, though they probably wouldn't be able to activate it easily with their claws.

Our two night stay at Alan and Liz's Number 62 Cathedral Road over the long weekend was great! A few other reviews have mentioned this and we are inclined to agree - it is a home away from home experience. The rooms are comfortable, well appointed and stocked with all the utilities one would expect. Number 62 is very well located and just a short walk away from the park and the castle. It is also great value for money - you would truly ask yourself why you would ever stay in a bland, generic hotel.

Finally, Liz and Allan are wonderful hosts - welcoming, thoughtful and great to have a chat to! My wife and I would recommend Number 62 to our friends and the next time we are in Cardiff, we'll certainly be visiting again!

Our 3 day stay was fantastic at this B & B. It was such a lovely area with only 5 minutes walk to the beautiful park, and about 10 minutes to the city centre. The area is quiet and easy to find as well with a few little pubs close by for a late night ale. Liz and Allan were lovely hosts, always keeping our room spotless and filled with the usual good amenities. It was almost a home away from home for my partner and I. We would definitely stay here again.

Myself and a friend stayed in this amazing B&B for the long jubilee weekend. Words can not describe how brilliant it is, it is a proper home from home experience, with the owners Liz and Alan making you feel welcome from the start - from the text you get saying your room is ready right down to the added extras i.e the lovely biccies and the toiletries. The location is brilliant and i would highly recommend the sightseeing bus which is located outside the castle grounds. As for places to eat the guest information was excellent as it stated where Liz and Alan suggested to eat and Alan was on hand to reiterate how nice the food was at the various places. My recommendations are : the Beverley Hotel for breakfast with a continental buffet breakfast coming in at £3.50, for main meals : Y Mochyn Du was brilliant and also two doors down The Cricketers was fab. All in all i would definitely recommend this B&B and when i next come to Cardiff will be visiting again

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sophia room at the back and heard no noise at all
