Reviewed January 7, 2013

Spacious apartment (1 bed) well furnished and clean. Faultless instructions on key access etc which means no messing around checking in etc. Only thing I could fault was that upon arrival, the heating was on very low and so with winter upon us, it was cold upon entering the apartment - quickly fixed.
Will use them again

Clean, spacious well situated apartment. 20min walk from central station, or about £3 by taxi. Efficient entry by picking up the keys from the key safe rather than waiting around for someone to meet you.

Would definately use again.

This time we took a single room on the 3rd floor (room 8) it is at the front and at the top of the building, however the bedroom is at the back - so very quiet for sleeping. The front room has a large sofa bed which pulls out in seconds and provides a put me up bed which was very comfortable for our son.

The kitchen was extremely clean and the usual things was available such as tea, coffee and milk in the fridge. Breakfast the usual packs. Bath was nice and deep with a great shower.

Main bedroom was large with a Freeview TV and very comfortable bed so a good nights sleep.

Short walk into town and the Cricketers pub 2 mins away that sells great food and good selection of beers. The weather was fantastic and as ever central Cardiff very welcoming - this visit we went to Cardiff bay and that was a really nice day out. Thank you to Lezley and the team for looking after us

Room Tip: Book the rooms at the back if you are not from the city or room 8 on the third floor as the bedroom...

These new stylish apartments have all one could require for a self catering stay in Cardiff. Just minutes from the Millenium stadium, on a central, wide road.Nearly converted, very large Victorian house. Keys are found in a key safe inside the front door, which was a bit fiddly, via a digital entry code to front door, which was sent with the booking confirmation. Free car park at rear via a very narrow alleyway, again with coded entry gates.
Quite expensive, but hotels were at a premium, due to Olympics being on and the Millenium stadium being in use over the weekend we stayed.
We would stay there again, as it gives freedom to come and go as one pleases, and cook and eat when one wants to.Very well equipped.

Room Tip: We had room 12, 1st floor at the side rear which was quiet.

We could not put my mother to sleep on the designated sofa bed as the springs were just so hard - my mother therefore had the double bed and bedroom and my husband and I slept on the floor - awoke the following morning and purchased a mattress topper. Sleep therefore on 2nd night was better but the traffic and the traffic noise on the main road is horrendous - no double glazing I guess due to the age of the buildings but no 'deafen the sound' curtains either. Room 8 was noisy and very hot. We would however say that the amenities were good, location of 2 eating places close by and the apartment was very clean and well thought out, apart from the above. With 3 of us and a dishwasher, the hot water did run out quickly. My daughter and fiancee slept in apartment 2 - they could not sleep as there was too much noise and were woken up constantly during the night to the occupants of the opposite apartment. Noise, heat and an uncomfortable sofa bed let these apartments down for us. As a group booking we would not book again - the rear rooms and the 'gate house' site would be a better choice providing that the 'extra' sleeping arrangements were comfortable. Free wi fi would also be an advantage. My mother in the rear room, off road located bedroom slept well.

Room Tip: Rear rooms ie those located off Cathedral Road/rear of the property and check the sofa bed for comfo...

Thank You for your review following your recent stay with us in Cardiff. Please accept our most sincere apologies for the issues you experienced during your stay and I am sorry that SACO did not meet your expectations on this occasion.
The sofa beds are brand new and we are sorry you found them uncomfortable and that you slept on the floor. This is certainly not what we expect our guests to have to do.
Regarding the road noise, I am afraid due to the building being listed, double glazing is not possible. I would recommend that if you do return to SACO, Cardiff that an apartment at the back building is requested. We do try our best to accommodate all specific needs of a guest as much as possible to ensure they have a comfortable and pleasant stay.
I am sorry you experienced noise from another guest and in this unlikely event a call can be made to the emergency number and a member of the team would have attended site to ensure the other guests kept their noise to a minimum.
I understand you found the apartments quite hot and I can confirm that fans are available at request.
Here at SACO we pride ourselves on our standard of apartments and customer service and I am sorry you did not experience this fully during your stay. I do hope the issues you experienced do not deter you from booking with SACO again in the future.
Thank you once again for your feedback. If you would like to discuss in further detail please feel free to email me direct jbuckley@sacoapartments.com

In my last review I said “Would we go back…………… in a blink of an eye, except it’s a 5 hour drive to get there on a cluttered motorway” – Yep did the same again, Bank Holiday weekend with a Rugby Match AND a Cricket match on !!!! – well worth the drive down. Stayed in the lower ground floor rear apartment – recently refurbished. Remember the film “The Tourist” and the restaurant scene which the waiter says to Johnny Depp “Excellent Choice, Sir” nothing could be more apt. If you want a safe environment, if you want a feeling of home, if you want too just kick off your shoes and relax this has to be it. High standards: My only disappointment is the “Internet” provision – there is no WiFi capability and internet is an extra. Thus for those who need to be in constant business touch, even whilst on holiday – take your MiFi.
Location: as said in other posts – takes minutes to walk into town – enjoy!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if available

Stayed at the SACO Cardiff and was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the apartment actually was. It was clean, spacious, well thought out and in a great location (only 10-15mins walk from Cardiff Castle). If you want food, I recommend "The Beverley" across the road - Huge breakfasts for under a fiver!

I didn't expect the apartment to have much but it had milk in the fridge, tea and coffee, plenty of bin liners, toilet rolls and even soap/shampoo in the bathrooms. Perfect!

Hot water is limited (there are signs to warn you about this) and when sharing with 3 other people we found the hot water went quickly. People who like long showers should definitely go last!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Cardiff and will be using SACO again. Without a doubt.

Room Tip: People who like hot showers should go last as hot water is limited.
