SACO Cardiff - Cathedral Road
Reviewed June 3, 2012

In my last review I said “Would we go back…………… in a blink of an eye, except it’s a 5 hour drive to get there on a cluttered motorway” – Yep did the same again, Bank Holiday weekend with a Rugby Match AND a Cricket match on !!!! – well worth the drive down. Stayed in the lower ground floor rear apartment – recently refurbished. Remember the film “The Tourist” and the restaurant scene which the waiter says to Johnny Depp “Excellent Choice, Sir” nothing could be more apt. If you want a safe environment, if you want a feeling of home, if you want too just kick off your shoes and relax this has to be it. High standards: My only disappointment is the “Internet” provision – there is no WiFi capability and internet is an extra. Thus for those who need to be in constant business touch, even whilst on holiday – take your MiFi.
Location: as said in other posts – takes minutes to walk into town – enjoy!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if available

Stayed at the SACO Cardiff and was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the apartment actually was. It was clean, spacious, well thought out and in a great location (only 10-15mins walk from Cardiff Castle). If you want food, I recommend "The Beverley" across the road - Huge breakfasts for under a fiver!

I didn't expect the apartment to have much but it had milk in the fridge, tea and coffee, plenty of bin liners, toilet rolls and even soap/shampoo in the bathrooms. Perfect!

Hot water is limited (there are signs to warn you about this) and when sharing with 3 other people we found the hot water went quickly. People who like long showers should definitely go last!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Cardiff and will be using SACO again. Without a doubt.

Room Tip: People who like hot showers should go last as hot water is limited.

We stay for 2 nights in SACO apartments. The located is excellent near to the city centre and minutes away from the park and castle. The apartment was lovely and spacious as well as being well equip with kitchen utensils, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The manager Liz was also very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: I would imagine that the apartments at the back of the house are quieter as they are facing the par...

Me and my friends stayed here last weekend and we had a brilliant time. The apartment was spacious, beautifully designed and laid out and most of all we had everything we could have asked for (i.e parking space, towels, bedding, adequate pillows and even milk)

The apartment was secure and conveniently located. The only negative I would have is the hot water ran out too quickly but I guess there were a few of us.

I would definitely recommend Cardiff and even more so this apartment.

We stayed two nights in a one bedroom apartment in this beautifully converted period house, although we were in the coach house in what would have been the garden, but now houses the car park. The rooms are well proportioned with high ceilings making it feel quite spacious. Fittings are good and everything you need to get started is provided - milk, tea, coffee, cereal. Just right for an overnight or brief stay.Good quality towels and bedlinen. If you want to cook, that is well provided for with a multi use microwave, hob and oven and dishwasher (and dishwasher tablets too!). The bed was comfortable although only 4'6" which we found a little small. The area is good for eating out - just a short walk to the excellent restaurants at Pontcanna. We particularly liked Cafe Brava for a good breakfast and friendly, lively atmosphere. Walking into Cardiff centre is pleasant as you can walk through the nearby Sophia Gardens, coming out by the castle. One extra thing which we liked - the heating is controllable with proper instructions on how to use the system.

Room Tip: I would choose a room facing the back - towards the sports ground - as it has less traffic noise.

What a fantastic and enjoyable stay we had. On arrival we had a slight challenge with regards to getting in - (not the best with technology) rang the Emergency number - Liz answered in a few rings - had a Homer Simpson moment (DoH) and got in.
The standard of the accommodation was beyond our expectation.
Beds: very, very comfortable - all mattresses have just been replaced! A great nights sleep
Ambiance: Ok the cliché word is nothing short of 5***** - we have stayed in a number of great hotels around the world - but for a family and home accommodating night this ranks in the top 5
Kitchen area: very clean and well stocked for an initial arrival - usual items, coffee, tea, Milk (2 pint of) chocolate, (Green and Black), cereal for the morning.
Television in the main room and the bedrooms - all channels from Freeview - so adequate
Cleaning: the cleanliness of the apartment was better than most hotel rooms - really!!!
Car Parking - not a problem once you found how to drive round the back - ample parking spaces in a very, very secure parking area
Now the main bit: The following day Liz due to my Homer Simpson night came along to make sure my wife and son where OK and was there anything she could do: Nothing short of exceeding your customers expectations comes to mind
Would we go back…………… in a blink of an eye, except it’s a 5 hour drive to get there on a cluttered motorway

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are great for Country Bumbkins, rooms at the front are fantastic for London/City p...
