The park is a nice place to go on a date on a pleasant day, ideal for a picnic for two. It feels like a country retreat in a city. The only down fall is it can get quite busy during a nice summers day, but the locals are quite pleasant.

Worth a visit for a run, cycle, feed the ducks, row a boat on the lake.
Take a picnic in the summer - and don'f forget to buy an ice-cream!

I love walking to roath park, there's baby gooses out and about, if they not hiding in the small island. Plus going to the green house is good. Did tell one of the staff that one of the tortoise died, but he just said that he couldn't deal with it, until the main owner gets back. (A bit awkward as children are there looking at the poor animal) but overall a great place to see fruits and loads of fishes in there as well. £2 to get in.

Downside I would say would be people still feed birds with bread which isn't healthy to them and they can survive due to insects, seeds, etc.

I was living in Cardiff for almost 6 years, 3 of those almost next to Roath Park. It's a nice place, and I have done numerous walks around the whole park (lake+fields).
My favourite place was a basketball court where I was regularly beaten by Lithuanians! :) Well... it's such a basketball mad country, I didn't want to disappoint them and I was letting them win. ;)
The worst thing is... lake with too many birds! It's just not natural to have so many birds on such a small area. They have to be fed by people to survive, and probably it's anyway not a healthy food for them. Also, parts of a park lack lighting and therefore are closed for the twilight. In the winter you can visit those parts only during the weekend, as it's dark so quickly...
