“Great Hotel!”
Reviewed July 15, 2007

This hotel was great! My husband and I went for the night and spent the day in Wales. This was a last minute booking and it turned out to be a great hotel. It is very elegant and very nice. Great price also. The location was great. The food was good. Staff was very friendly. There is a bar downstairs in the hotel that has a balcony and very nice to sit outside and have a few drinks.

Overall, very nice hotel!

I stay in this hotel whenever I can when I'm on business in Cardiff.

It's a modern, elegantly decorated and furnished hotel with a high standard of service.

The rooms are amongst the best I have stayed in. They are invariably large, with fantastically comfortable beds. The bathrooms are also airy and spacious with excellent showers and baths.

Air conditioning always seems to work very effectively.

The rooms give a feeling of luxury, whether you have the suites, executive or standard rooms.

The pool is also excellent.

The restaurant serves a varied menu, which is also reasonable priced. The bar food is great too!

I have always found the staff to be most helpful and friendly. The only difficulty is booking because it's so popular, and deservedly so.

Don't be put off by the road outside! It's a bit noisy (lots of bars and clubs). Once you're inside the doors it's like an oasis of calm.

I can't recommend this hotel too highly!

The Park Plaza is a nice, basic hotel for a small city. The room we stayed in was very basic, but pleasant. A chair and desk, queen sized bed, TV that appears like a flat-panel but isn't. The TV promised Internet access but despite attempts by a hotel attendant, ours never worked (the hotel removed the charged with no problems). The bathrooom comes with a hair dryer, which (annoyingly) requires that the ON button be held down constantly in order to operate it. The usual soaps (Gilbert & Soames) in the bathroom, which comes with a good shower unit (although the shower drained so slowly that even a relatively quick shower had you above the ankles in water).

Although this isn't an inexpensive hotel, it has no valet parking, and the only parking is in a very tight lot across the street. The hotel gives no discount for parking, so you're paying £10 per night to park. Location is great ... a quick walk to Cardiff Castle or the High Street, where you'll find good restaurants and pubs.

Service was friendly and polite. Breakfast was included in our Expedia booking, and was a buffet including scrambled eggs, black pudding, mushrooms, cereals, cheese, fruit, and juices.

All in all, a good hotel but not world class.

We stayed at this hotel for one night, but we joked that we wished we could have packed it up and taken it with us for the rest of our vacation! We arrived at about 10:30am by train. We wanted to leave our luggage at the desk until check-in time so we could sight-see during the day. But, much to our delight, the friendly check-in staffer offered to see if any rooms were available. There were, so we were able to check-in early-- very nice! The rooms had a very modern design. There was a large, flat screen TV on the wall with lots of (satellite) channels, including channels in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, and, of course, Welsh. The beds were comfortable and fitted with goosedown comforters. There was complementary tea and cookies in the room. The breakfast in the morning was good-- a hot/cold buffet. The hotel is close to shops, restaurants, bars (a little noisy at night), public transportation, the stadium, and the Castle. If I am in Cardiff again, I will certainly stay there!

Booked via Laterooms for a double room with breakfast at a cost of £120.00. Later found that the hotel's website promises a substantial discount if you find a cheaper price than the one they quote.
Hotel is very well situated, next to the theatre and close to the castle. Parking is difficult, with the only realistic option being the NCP over the road. The hotel will validate the ticket, charging you £10.00 - this represents a small saving.
The room was well appointed with the most enormous, comfortable bed. The thick curtains kept out every chink of light!
The bathroom was clean and spacious with a really powerful shower. We were on the 4th floor but the road noise frequently disturbed us. However, this was a Sunday night of a bank holiday weekend. Our room was at the back of the hotel near the main route into the city. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cold and hot buffet items.
The accommodation was clean and modern with contemporary furnishings, high ceilings and huge doors!
Friendly and efficient staff made this a most pleasant stay.
