It is upstairs, over the fantastic deli. Mainly open sandwiches, which are reasonably priced and good quality. Portions are not large, but it isn't expensive, so it's good value for money. Good selection of Austrian cakes and other puddings. Not the place to go for a large meal, but recommended for brunch, a light lunch or afternoon tea. Service was friendly and prompt, as it should be, as there isn't much cooking involved in most meals - it is more a matter of assembling the already cooked ingredients.

I came here for lunch in June 2012. It's a lovely cafe with lovely food. There is a delicatessen on the ground floor that sells all sorts of lovely food. The cafe is on the first floor. The menu had a large variety of food listed. I would recommend this restaurant

The deli downstairs is undeniably fantastic, with an array of high-quality and interesting produce. Have frequented the shop over many years and always been satisfied - it is one of the best places to peruse foodstuffs in Cardiff.

The new(ish) Kaffeehaus however I found a little bit of a let-down. I think that the produce from the shop could be better brought into the cafe's menu, although I'm sure many would disagree. I understand the theme as a Vienesse coffeeshop, and it is certainly a USP in Cardiff, but think perhaps showcasing Welsh produce might be interesting? Thought the vegetarian / vegan / special diet offerings were a little limited, and that the service lacked a little warmth on my particular visit. The music was naturally Mozart, and all was quaint, but just not to my taste. I understand that many would appreciate all this however.

The cafe isn't decorated quite to my taste either, something about the dark wood (?) but I loved the windows over the arcade, thought that was really nice. Also, thought it was generally expensive. Sorry if this is a little harsh, but want to emphasise that this is quite a subjective review! Think it would be lovely for tourists.

Wally's Deli has always been my most favourite food-shop of anywhere in the world that I have visited, so to be able to eat there as well makes for a double treat! Wally's Kaffeehaus serves up coffee second to none and a delicious range of open sandwhiches, cheese and meat platters as well as lovely cakes. I had the Frickadellen and Frankfurter with Emmental - one of their 'traditional sausage lunches'. It was delicious, but this was a very hard choice as everything else on the menu is to my tase - so I'll obviously have to visit many times now to sample the rest of the offerings! The food was very well presented, the staff efficient and friendly and there were also a good selection of newspapers to read for those wanting to catch up on the world's news. The menu is much more interesting than most cafe offerings, I strongly recommend a visit.

If you go to Cardiff and haven't been to Wally's you've missed a treat. It's one of the highlights of our visits there. Only open normal shop hours it is over Wally's delicatessen. This small Kaffehaus serves the most scrummy cakes and opens sandwiches on a continental style, with the cooked meats and cheeses coming from the shop below, whilst the daily soups are tasty and come with continental breads. You get an enormous pot of tea for 2 that lasts the meal; can't comment on the coffees but they looked large as well. Go BEFORE you wander round the shop below to temper your appetite or you may buy more than you should!
