“shame about the restaurant”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

stayed here last week for 1 night to visit my son at university. handy location as didn't want to stay in the city centre. the room was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. the only letdown was the restaurant, sorry guys but you really need to sort the service out, long wait for drinks, long wait for food, then only two of the meals came out as I had to 'wait for chips' sorry not good enough. the steak was undercooked when it did come. really did expect better. however- the waitress who came to collect the plates was really lovely and very sorry we were not satisfied-sorry but I can't remember your name but your daughter was training . I would stay here again but don't think I would eat in the restaurant .

We had read the reviews and expected to be quite happy with this hotel, but were actually quite disappointed.
It was sort of okay décor-wise, the bed was comfortable enough, but the cleanliness left something to be desired.
It also wasn't air conditioned as advertised, and we had to leave the windows open and the fan on in an attempt to keep the temperature bearable. This allowed the road noise to come in, but we still managed to sleep okay.
The customer service was spotty....some staff that we encountered were efficient, professional, and friendly (especially the staff in the dining room during breakfast), some were laughably inefficient and filled with attitude....one woman at the counter on check in advised that she didn't have us on the list, even although I had an email confirmation, and even although we had stayed there a couple of days ago and had confirmed then that we would be returning. It was only after I fished through all my luggage in the lobby and finally found the email confirmation that she said, oh, would you look at that, we do have you here after all! I think she was for whatever reason just trying to be a be-yotch :)
We got a tiny room the first time we stayed there, a better sized but dirtier room the 2nd time, and an okay one the 3rd time. We weren't going to return after the second time, but the location was very convenient to where our family whom we were visiting lived, so we decided to return.

On the positive side, the breakfast was decent, and the price was good.

I would possibly stay here due to the convenient (for us) location, but otherwise, would be happy to try somewhere else in Cardiff (for example, Lincoln House, where we stayed a couple of years ago and LOVED).

This hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It is a tired and dim place to stay and does not reach the standards of other premier inns we have stayed in over the years. It is not a place I would choose to return to.

Stayed here for my birthday 12th October, my boyfriend had arranged for us to go to the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff, this was about 20 minutes drive from it.
The staff were excellent and when Jo & Jo found out it was my birthday they wished me happy birthday and a short while after booking in we had a knock at the door, they had got me a card and a box of chocolates and also took a photo of my boyfriend and I before we left to go out for dinner.
They are a credit to the hotel and to the chain and gave excellent customer service :-)

When I arrived at the hotel, I was slightly worried as the outside looks more like an old office block rather than comfy hotel! However, once inside it was very nice indeed. The hotel room was clean and the staff were very pleasant. We were on the top floor and with the window open you could hear the noise of the motorway outside, however when the window was shut it was silent. We went out for an evening meal as we didn't realise the hotel had a restaurant attached which looked nice. We only stayed one night and got a reasonable deal, as my husband was running the Cardiff half marathon. I would definitely stay here again, its not to far from Cardiff (a car journey away) but close to a park and ride.

The location is pretty good seeing as it isn't the central Cardiff one. It only took us 2 hours from London and was really easy to find. We stayed as a group of 8 with two rooms but arrived separately so checked in separately. The first 4 checked in to two rooms fine and let us know that they said we had 4 rooms reserved all on the same floor which was great. When the last 4 of us arrived however they said we has already checked in 3 rooms not two, this was wrong and after ages we found out they'd actually given one of our rooms away to someone else - we discovered this after we had been given a key and entered to find someone else's belongings in there! which is a serious breach of security. We then had to relocate one of the rooms to a completely different floor which was annoying as we were the last rooms at the end of the corridor on each floor so it took a while to get from one room to the next.
Apart from that it was okay - rooms were fine if on the small side - good TV and tea/coffee facilities. Room was very hot though and difficult to open windows. The bathroom was tiny and shower didn't work properly either.
The beds were comfy though and we had a good night sleep.
Fort the price we paid it was fine and all we needed for a place to stay after a night out in Cardiff.
