“Comfortable overnight stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

Stopped over here after taking son back to University. We have had a bigger room, sharing with younger son, but there was just the 2 of us and the room was smaller but adequate. Only issue was shower leaked onto the floor. Breakfast busy but good choice. We have commented before about the code for leaving the car park - again we were not made aware of this. There is a notice on the desk but if this is not flagged up to you you wouldn't notice it and we had to help an elderly couple out of the car park who also had not been told about the code.

This premier inn is a bit tired but adequate, the staff were friendly and the food average. Cheap and cheerful not up to the usual Premier standards the car park has steps, if you have a heavy bag you have to carry it down them from the car park

Stayed in this hotel after family party. Good location, great breakfast with good choice of food and drinks. Paid £96 for double room with breakfast and expected great night sleep and good size room. Room was very small with tiny bathroom and neither me or my husband could sleep because of the noise. It was quite windy at night and wind was coming through closed windows making "buzzing" noise every few minutes. It was like Moskito or bee sound close to you. We were staying in room 625 and I believe that staff is aware about this problem, because we had got full refund given the next morning without even anyone checking. Staff was very helpful and apologetic, but unfortunately we won't be coming back again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 625 as it has problems with windows

Caerphilly was fully booked so we chose this one as we were impressed by premier inn before. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very nice and bright with lots of sunlight and very clean as you would expect. The shower was nice and powerful and certainly woke you up. We did not eat here so can not comment. We had a family which had plenty of space to move around in considering there were 3 beds. However I did not find the bed very comfortable and the adjoining door between our room and the next left you feeling like the other family were in the same room as you. Through the night we were awoken by other guest knocking on all the room doors shouting for us to wake up. As well as other groups being rather noisy coming down the corridor. This is not the fault of the staff but it is for this reason that I would not go back.

We were visiting Cardiff to take our son back to the University. We usually stay in the centre, but on this occasion, all hotels were double the price. For that reason, I booked the Cardiff North Premier Inn, as it was priced at around £60, although I guess for another non depositing student weekend, it would have been half the price.

I think the building is the old Post House hotel which has had a new facade. The hotel is a slightly lower grade than the newer Premier Inns, but should this come up at a good price at around £29, then I wouldn't hesitate booking it again. The rooms were the same usual standard, as was the breakfast. Did not have evening meal, so can not comment on that.

We could not hear any traffic noise. Another bonus here is that there is no parking charge, for which you pay an average of £12 a night in the city centre. Getting back into the city was a dawdle.

Would recommend staying.

There was nothing to fault. Yes it does overlook the A48, but that makes it easy to find and the roads are fast into Catdiff city from here. Usual good and clean standard of Premier Inn. Unusually, we ate dinner here as we were tired from travelling, but the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. A slight error in our order was compensated with a refund and free drinks. Special mention for waitress Clare for her professional and efficient service. We will definitely come again and look forward to the personal service from all the staff we had contact with.

This is a building that has become a Premier Inn. Handy to get to outside of the city centre. There are parts of the hotel that are a bit worn. You still get the good night guarantee. The rooms are like you would expect, however as we stayed on the side where the Dual carriageway is the room had an extra glazing to the double glazing. It did drown the traffic noise. Not completely if you are a lit sleeper. Staff were friendly & accommodating.
I am not saying it was a bad experience at all, just not the standard of accommodation that I would expect from a Premier Inn.
