Reviewed November 17, 2010

stayed late october, hotel very close to shops and bars and places to eat.
staff nice and friendly, very clean throughout rooms quite small but nice decor and a strange bathroom like a space pod.no hairdryers in the room but available on request, no dressing table, bed was to hard myself & husband and other friends who was staying there did not sleep at all because of this and right next to train line which is extremely loud.
breakfast was in Tupperware containers and not very nice the bread was worse i have ever ate inedible in fact and they only gave u a small saucer to eat in on.
if you get a good deal then stay here but premier inn next door is more comfy

Arrived at the hotel and proceded to check in where the receptionist informed us about breakfast times and that it would cost £7.50 each. "No" I replied " Breakfast is included in our booking" "No she said it is not" I then produced a printed copy of my booking and lo and behold, breakfast was now included. Room was quite good, as was bathroom. Next morning we went down for breakfast. My daughter had stayed here several weeks earlier and told us the breakfast had been cold. We had the same experience, cold low quality food items. Definitely not worth paying for. Location was good, so apart from breakfast it is a reasonable hotel to stay in.

We had a weekend in Cardiff, went for the Rugby. Stayed 2 nights at the Ibis, basic but of a reasonable standard, our room was at the back of the hotel and train noise was an issue. Room OK a little tired, we also had breakfast which was reasonable for the money. Brilliant location for shopping and for the Millenium stadium, which was a short walk away. Highly recommend the 'Thai House' restaurant too which is literally behind the hotel.

Dont forget your hairdrier as our room didnt have one!

Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel whilst on a business trip and found it to be good value for money. The rooms are a little dated and unfortunately I got a room by the railway line, so didn;t have the best nights sleep as the trains do start early.

On saying that the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good for the standard of hotel. The location was the great thing about this hotel with all of the shops, bars and resturants within easy walking distance which was great.

I travelled by train so didn't have a problem with the cost of parking which other people have mentioned being a problem.

Cardiff City Centre Ibis. Room was a reasonable size, very Ibis, £49 internet deal, in city centre. I wanted somewhere to crash after a night out with friends. Location and comfort really good. I forgot that there was no hairdryer in the room, & called reception after I'd showered and realised -and the staff brought one up in two minutes. Will "crash" there again.

You know what you are getting with Ibis and this one certainly doesn't disappoint. The rooms and general facilities are standard. When it opened it must have pioneered budget hotel chains in central Cardiff, but now there are many other larger, shinier options but it seems to hold its own not least with attention to service detail. Despite some up-grading and re-equipping (I particularly liked the bedroom curtains, the building is beginning to show its age. I had no problem with noise from the railway line, although it could be a problen in Summer, and the hotel is very convenient for Queen Street Station. I normally stay in French Ibis hotels and was interested to experience the breakfast - it proved to be good value although the toaster is slow, but at least I was able to make myself a well filled bacon and brown sauce baguette.
