A Space in the City @ Quayside
Reviewed August 22, 2013

I took my family to Quayside for four nights break. My ulterior motive was to check it out as a possible base for a project I may be involved in for several months in South Wales. The like of positives is almost endless. The two bedroom apartment was absolutely perfect. Very modern. Well kitted out. Had everything I could possibly need. Great located. Seriously, this was a great 'home away from home for short breaks or engagements. I cannot praise it enough and for many people this would I am sure be a five star experience. It almost was for me.

There is one and only one reason why i will not go back. Internet connection for me is mission critical. For my work and to a lesser extent (but still important) personal life I have to be in touch in a reliable, super fast manner. The Quayside internet connection is significantly below the standard that I would expect from the style of accommodation being provided.

If internet is of no interest to you and you are giving this accommodation serious consideration, I can recommend it wholeheartedly. The restaurant bars and attractions nearby are excellent and if you need it as a place to collapse after work, it is damn near faultless.

If no high quality internet connection is a deal breaker for you, give this one a miss. It is a fact of life that for many people, the connected world is a necessity and Quayside doesn't come close to cutting it.

Room Tip: As high as possible. It is a very busy area.

Thank you for your comments,

We are pleased that you enjoyed Cardiff and the apartment. We are however disappointed that you have experienced a slow internet connection. The internet in Quayside is BT Business broadband and the typical connection speeds are around 3-5mb. If you were experiencing slower connections than this I would be grateful if you could contact us privately so we can investigate with BT.

BT infinity fiber optic broadbandis being rolled out in Cardiff Bay over the coming months and we are intending to upgrade to this service in the near future.

Brilliantly situated. Good base for holiday or business. Lovely layout. Had everything we needed.
Only thing that stopped it from getting a full score was the remote for the huge tv had flat batteries, and we only got mobile phone reception on our balcony.
Will definitely come back though! :)

First class apartment brilliant location close to everything. Would stay again really enjoyed the weekend there. Apartment had everything you could wish for . although no car parking facilities the carpark was only seconds away and it was really cheap ro park. Bus stop to cardiff centre right outside buses ran every 10 mins. More restaurants that I could choose from and lots to do.

Great location, nice apartment but NOT the balcony and city/sea view shown on the Space in the City website. we had a balcony looking into an inner courtyard of 4 story high brick walls. Not a view!!!.

What a stunning place. Best finishes, spacious and central to all the beach front action.

Bit noisy during the night with buses and cars passing the whole time. It was around 28Celcius, so we all windows were open....

Better than most hotels I have stayed in.

Room Tip: As high as possible ... Away from street noise

The apartment was more than adequate for a short break. Fully equipped, en-suite and family bathroom - everything you need in the new, modern kitchen. Location opposite the Millennium Centre, express supermarket located 'under' the block. Check in easy, although we had to wait outside the block for a while after phoning - but no problem in the fine, summer weather. We didn't need to use parking facilities - but plenty of car parks close by - although expensive.
Weather was so hot during out stay we had to have windows open - the only problem with this was that our apartment faced the busy main road and there was constant traffic noise - day and night!
Just a minor issue - everything else was great - cleanliness, facilities, location - we would stay again.

Room Tip: Traffic an issue on our side of the building - request one facing the Bay.

The apartment is lovely and new. It has kitchen, and the utensils, washing machine, fridge, TV, settee, iron and iron board and wi-fi. It has all the facilities you need, feel like a home.
The location is good, next to Cardiff Millennium Centre. There are few groceries stores nearby if you feel like buying raw materials to cook. Plenty of restaurants around the apartment as well.If you need a taxi, just walk few steps to Mermaid Quay and you can find many taxi waiting for passenger. The staff are also friendly and very responsive to our need.
