Stayed in an executive room which was really good - comfortable and spacious. Our dog was allowed to stay for £15 a night which we thought was good considering the high standard of the hotel. We stayed with dinner, bed, and breakfast - so much choice and excellent food. Our room was very quiet, could imagine we were the only ones here. Short walk to central shopping area, and also not far to the redeveloped bay area. Staff all lovely and very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

I booked an executive room for our wedding anniversary. The room was large and spacious, with a large bathroom, with bath and shower. The bed was very comfortable, and the room warm.
There was a Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, TV and desk. They only supplied four coffee pods per day, two decaffeinated, a few more would have been nice, but staff did bring more, and a jug of milk, when asked.
We had a room service meal one evening, and the food arrived hot, and quickly. While i thought it a little overpriced, it was tasty. There was a three pound surcharge for the service, something I considered reasonable.
There is plenty of parking at the hotel, with an extra charge of £9 per 24 hours. Leaving our car on checkout day for the afternoon was not a problem.
The pool was lovely, and we also tried the steam room. It was hot and full of steam! Lovely on a cold November day.
There is free WiFi, though it is throttled to a slower (but reasonable) speed unless you pay extra for the premium WiFi. Premium WiFi was also included free for the Executive rooms.
Another extra included at weekends was a pay film. This was of reasonable quality on the rooms, TV, though the TV was such a distance from the bed, that it was a little hard to see.
Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet, with tasty sausages and bacon, and the usual bread, croissants etc.
While they had french bread, i thought the sliced was a little cheap, compared with the quality of the rest of the breakfast.

All in all, we had a fantastic time, and considered the upgrade charge with the extra.

Just had to stay again at the Novotel, Cardiff Centre. Why? I hear you ask !

Well... because it is brilliant. We get what we want, and relax. We get to stay at a well run hotel that looks after us, and delivers a service that is memorable.

We arrived on Friday, and had a drink in the infamous bar. Lukas was fantastic, and the
atmosphere was very relaxed. The drinks are very reasonably priced for a capital city, like
Cardiff.

Got up early on Saturday morning for a very refreshing swim in the clean and well managed leisure facility. The gym is also of a good standard with good equipment, and there is a hammam and sauna, together with a Jacuzzi by the pool.

So, on to breakfast. Wow...it was," delicious." Bacon, Eggs, Sausage, Mushrooms, Cooked Meats, Cheese, Croissant, Breads, Toast and preserves with Coffee and Tea.

The room was exceptionally clean and of a very high standard, with regard to housekeeping, ("I'll come back later..." The bedding is beautifully laundered and white and crisp.

Well, we went round the. " Dr Who Experience,".... " AGAIN," (3x) as you do on the 50th, and it was great. Even the Ood are now saying," hello David "... The family had a great time going on set and seeing the Tardis for a second time. The staff are fantastic, and for children and adults alike, it is escapism. The set tour and the Dr Who Experience is well worth it, and seeing the Dr Who spoof with Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy was brilliant, especially when we
could say, "Hey, we 've been there."

So, back to the hotel. The staff, and managers are extremely professional and will attend to any
request with regard to good hotel service. Mr Bilel Talbi, front office manager, and his staff will make your stay a pleasant one. Mr Wael Elassal, the Manager, and his team are formidable.
There are:-
Two pc's available in the foyer, and a computer game console for the kids. A play area is also available for the under fives.

The Novotel Cardiff Centre is situated a 25 minute walk from Cardiff bay, or do what the lazy people do, and take one of the very clean taxis rides for five minutes, and for about five pounds.
The taxis drivers are very friendly. The bay area offers the Millenium centre, and a vibrant area for walking, wandering and many different restaurants to visit. Fairly safe at night and very relaxing.

Or, why not go Christmas shopping at the massive shopping centre nearby. Again, you can walk, but we would recommend a taxis. Shop till you drop. It is certainly a big shopping area with most shops you can think of. And, have a," Coffee," on your way, or a," Tea "...or a," HOT Chocolate."

We had a fantastic time, again in Cardiff. Cardiff is a lovely place to stay, if you want to relax.
It is also, a vibrant city. It is an international and exciting place, but feels more like a village where
everyone is just enjoying life.

The Cardiff Novotel is exactly that. You must stay here, it's great... Try it !

Regards,

David and Family.

A lovely weekend at the Novotel. It was an international rugby weekend so I was worried how busy the hotel would be, but since it's a little out of town we didn't have a problem. We had a room on the third floor, nicely decorated and spacious. Didn't eat dinner at the hotel but utilised the bar, nice and uncrowded with comfy seats which we liked. Bar prices are a little high but what I would call "hotel rates" so we weren't surprised. We stuck to the general hotel rule for weekend breakfast - head down to eat before around 9.30am - and this worked well; plenty of seats to choose from and the buffet wasn't too crowded. It seemed to fill up faster soon after we sat down. Again, breakfast price is a little steep but I am generally happy to pay for the convenience of a hotel breakfast, and the hot and cold choice was excellent here (all of the usual cereals, fruit, breads, continental and full cooked b/fast). Swimming pool also great - a fantastic amenity before going out in the cold to watch rugby - a little busy on Saturday morning when we tried it but not much of an issue. Will definitely be returning in February for the next rugby match we have tickets to.

It's about 10-15 mins walk from the city centre and shopping areas. We used a railway footbridge to get across to the John Lewis/Motorpoint area as a base to explore but wouldn't recommend this route for anybody with mobility issues. You can walk via the main roads to town to avoid the steps but this might take a little longer.

If you want somehere that won't get too packed in the bar/restaurant of an evening go for this hotel.

(Ought to say that the reception area has great features like iMacs for public use, and an Xbox for kids, but we didn't utilise these..)

Room Tip: We had a room in the older part of the building and it was lovely and spacious. Higher floors obviou...
