Stayed in the Novotel weekend March 25th-26th. This is my 2nd stay in this hotel, having stayed here last year also. I was more than happy to return to the hotel having enjoyed my stay the 1st time. I don't have any big complaints to make but just think that at £120 a night I've had much more in a room in other hotels I've stayed in.
The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows just awful; slept better the 2nd night as I was used to it. Bathroom was ok, small and basic but smelt quite a bit at times! (sewerage smell).
Has all the requirements in a room; space, sofa bed, Tv, tea & coffee facilities, and astocked mini fridge so all good there. However, the TV is very dated! Although flat screen it was 1. too far from the sofa/bed to pick up the remote and 2. the menu and just choosing a channel took about 5 minutes!! I suppose this is down to the fact that there's a keyboard attached. You need to pay for Internet acces but there is free internet access on Apple Macs in the reception area.
It depends your reason for travelling to use this hotel. I came down to watch a sporting event and travelled 4 hours after work so wanted to rest in the evenings. Had a room on the main road which didn't bother me; there was taffic noise...Stayed in the Novotel weekend March 25th-26th. This is my 2nd stay in this hotel, having stayed here last year also. It depends your reason for travelling to use this hotel. I came down to watch a sporting event and travelled 4 hours after work so wanted to rest in the evenings. Had a room on the main road which didn't bother me; there was taffic noise but nothing to put you off. But there did seem to be thin walls as I could hear next doors TV loud and clear as well as other visitors using the toilets!!
I took a taxi to and from the hotel as I wasn't comfortable walking to the centre esp at night after a football match! £4 I think it was.
I feel like all I've done is moan - and if you check out my other reviews I'm not a moaner and don't expect a lot. However, having stayed in the same standard hotels (i.e. Mint Hotel) and seen the standard there I have to say that the Novotel didn't impress me and for that reason I wouldn't stay there again. I'd say the rooms are on par with a good Travelodge or Premier Inn but with extras (spa, bar area).
I didn't use the bar area or ate breakfast there on this occassion. When I did the last time all was good though!More
