“Out cheapest night of UK trip!!”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Let’s face it for GBP29 we were not expecting much! In fact were quite worried about our choice. It turned out to be a lovely stay and the cheapest of our five week vacation in the UK. We had a bit of trouble locating the hotel, dropped by another Premier Inn who gave us printed instructions on how to locate the Premier Inn at Roath so guess we were not the first ones to get lost.

The Reception was gloomy but the staff very helpful and welcoming. Our room on the second floor overlooked the car park and a nice avenue of trees. The bedroom was very spacious; it had newly painted walls, an easy chair, TV, offered 30 minutes of free wi-fi, a desk and a comfortable bed. There was no air conditioning but the window opened, there was a fan and thermostat controlled wall heater. The bathroom was excellent and had new tiling. The location and surrounds were quiet and we had a great night’s sleep.

The David Lloyd Leisure Centre, next door, was an easy choice for a drink and a cheap, tasty evening meal. The staff there were friendly and welcoming. They offered the opportunity to use all the facilities at the centre for an excellent daily rate – wish we had been staying long enough to enjoy it.

As we were moving on the next morning we did not take advantage of public transport rather driving into Cardiff CBD a few minutes away. We noticed the Premier Inn in the city centre, it looked very attractive and well located but don’t expect it would be such good value as Roath Premier Inn. This was our first night of seven in South Wales and we were thrilled to have such a cheap, comfortable, friendly introduction to Wales. Yes, would definitely stay here again and recommend it to you.

I had a Fantastic stay at the Premier Inn Cardiff (Roath). They have smilie, friendly staff with an amazingly clean room. I had the best nights sleep in ages with even a choice of pillows (soft to firm) can you believe!

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Cardiff. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. We found it easy and quick to get into the city centre by bus from here. (£3.40 all day adult bus ticket) The hotel is close to a Sainsburys and retail parks.( M&S simply food, TGI Fridays, Burger King) Would recommend as a base for exploring Cardiff, as it has everything you need at a reasonable price.

Excellent stay again. This was 2nd visit in 3 months. Great room very quiet again enjoyed our stay. Used this as a base to go to cardiff arena, very close to town and much cheaper than the in town locations.

We had a lovely room, very quiet. The hotel is next to a health club - excellent facilities offered to guests at discount rate. Superb breakfast.
The setting might on approach seem a bit rundown as it's in a retail/light industrial estate but when you turn into the health club entrance that changes and it's very pleasant.
Staff were superb - very helpful. In the foyer there is a very detailed brochure about the area. I thought this was a great idea.
One of the best Premier Inns I've stayed in and will definitely stay here again.

Clean rooms, friendly service and good price. Breakfast, Costa coffee and drinks are served in the David Lloyd gym next door.

Its a typical premier Inn (in all ways), but if you want to go to city centre you will have to rely on taxis.

I'll start with stating that I like Premier Inn's especially when you can book a family room for £29 a night. This stay was typical of quality you would expect from Premier Inn. Helpful and friendly reception staff, a good sized, spotlessly clean and comfortable room and bathroom. We enjoyed another good nights sleep in a Premier. We did not eat here so I can't comment on the restaurant.
This was a little tricky to find tucked round the back but my advice is just keep following the signs for the David Lloyd centre. It was a little out of the centre and will add around £20 to your night out if that's your plan and you are taking a taxi into town, but parking is free.
