Premier Inn Cardiff (Roath) Hotel
Ranked #20 of 74 Hotels in Cardiff

The usual standard for a Premier Inn, this is one that's been recently refurbished including large flat screen TV. Re-purposed office building attached to David Lloyd sports centre. The hotel is right at the back of an industrial estate but is surprisingly quiet given its proximity to a main road. The only negative is that the restaurant is in the sports centre so you are eating next to a swimming pool, under what sounds like a bowling alley, surrounded by people in sportswear both pre and post showering. In short the ambiance is not what one expects of a hotel or pub restaurant and the menu is very limited. Fortunately there are a number of chain restaurants on the nearby Newport Road, we went to Frankie and Benny's for both dinner and breakfast.

Room Tip: Avoid the restaurant as there are better alternatives less than a mile away.

Had a last-minute meeting to go to so booked at teatime, drove 3 hours, ate on the way and arrived at midnight. Not a problem.
Easy to find - just off ringroad, managed to get parked.
Good nights sleep as usual - quiet ground floor room. Aircon.
Excellent serve-yourself breakfast to usual Premier standards.
You know what you are going to get with Premier Travel Inns.

Had to taxi to Cardiff Central station - roadworks causing chaos. Torrential rain causing rail chaos so journey home was a 6 hour nightmare.

Room Tip: ground floor was very quiet

We have used this on several occasions while visiting our son in Cardiff. Breakfast is served in the David Lloyd, for us we loved the convenience of using our David Lloyd membership, creates a mini spa break. Can be a challenge to find in the heart of an industrial estate. Recently been renovated which was good.

We have stayed in many premier inns . but this one is far the best, from the minute we arrived
and told the receptionist ( a lovely lady called Steph)although we were early could we leave our car as we had an appointment in Cardiff, she said if we wanted to go for a coffee in the David Lloyd centre, she would find us a room to book in before we left, we did this, and was given room 5 on the ground floor, lovely and clean, next morning we spoke to thew cleaners who were very nice, we then had a brilliant breakfast in the centre next door, again the staff were wonderful.we will stay again.
My only negative as a previous said , it does need a sign on the Ipswich road we drove past the turning twice,

Booked a short stay at the Premier Inn Roath Cardiff. Excellent choice for our purpose. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, very clean, quiet room on the second floor. Conveniently located off the A48 and within 5 minutes of the city centre. Will definitely book here again as since my parents home was sold this provides an ideal base for visits.

Room Tip: Suggest asking for 2nd floor room.

The hotel was great, the staff were brilliant when we first arrived, however after being out for most of the evening when we arrived back they're was a gentleman on duty at reception hovering on our corridoor. He persistently asked if we were ok, as we went outside for a cigarette he watched through the reception window. After around half an hour we were in bed and chatting at a reasonable level when there was a knock at the door, i opened it to find this man from reception, he asked could we keep the noise down! He asked to see my friend so he could tell her too which i didnt allow and told her from were he was. The man made myself and my friend feel very uncomfortable, i would hesitate to book here again.
