“So much to see”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

So much to see here, very open and airy, laid out perfecrtly and all in one big building. Give yourself plenty of time to spend because you can't just pop in without wanting to see more and more. Good cafe.

“Well worth the time!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

As others have mentioned, you could spend hours and hours at this museum and not see everything. Definitely make a point to see the 'Origins of Wales' and the Impressionist Collection on Level 2.
Had a great lunch in their cafe, so I recommend grabbing a bite if you are hungry.
Cannot believe this place has no entry charge! Deal of the century people! You are not going to go many places and see Monets and Renoirs for FREE.

“So much to see”
Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

This place is full of stuff, going from how the earth began, through to modern day Wales. There's heaps to see, it's interactive, the staff are kind and helpful -and there's also an art section and even though I hate art it did suss it out and from what I seem it was pretty good!
It's a must if you're in Cardiff.

“Wonderful art- easy to reach and free!”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

I have never actually been to Cardiff before , and thought we would try it as cheaper to visit on the train than going to London.
I was very surprised by the quality of art on display- a surprising number of impressionists, important large sculptures and renaissance art.
It feels much more like a provincial gallery than a national gallery, other than the quality of the works, though understandably I was not particularly interested in the specific Welsh art.
It is displayed well with good notes, the staff are all very pleasant and you can wander in and out freely, and sit in the tiny al fresco café in the park in good weather.
It is only a 15 minute walk from the station, but a good hour to walk to Cardiff Bay which we also wanted to visit, so we gave up and caught the bus .
It wasn't really easy to get a handle on what Cardiff has to offer as it seems like lots of discrete districts that are not easily accessible travelling on foot.
