A lovely walk round the ramparts with clear view of the keep, the old dividing wall and the front of the house. The rooms in the house were fascinating especially those such as the Arab Room with elaborate gold decor. It seemed to be somewhere to visit with older children who would have some understanding of the history. Although I have no knowledge and little interest in military history the display beneath the shop was interesting, made more so by a very personable and well informed young guide. A visit to the tunnels used as wartime shelters was an unexpected part of the castle's history.
