During a business trip we had a Welsh Banquet in the castle.
The evening was designed to give international delegates a taste of Welsh fare. What it succeeded in doing was ensuring international visitors went away with a very poor perception of Wales, and was very counter productive. The staff sang traditional Welsh opera style songs to the accompaniment of a harp, and told stories and fables. This was fantastic. The food was quite the opposite, with a starter, soup and main course all totally tasteless and very poor. Main course for instance, was chicken breast with boiled potatoes and veg. Not what most people would buy in a restaurant. Dessert was shop bought rubbish, and the wine was similarly dire.
We didn't have a tour of the castle, so I am not commenting on that, but I would highly recommend avoiding the Welsh banquet, unless you wish to eat terrible food at £39 a head.
