“Good hotel - great city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014

Had a suite which gave us excellent views of Cardiff on the 20th floor. Included during the week had comlimentary drinks and nibbles from 18:00 to 20:00 which was excellent. Also included was business class breakfast - similar to normal breakfast but better ambience and service.
Restaurant food good.
Suite great - two Tvs free hi speed wifi. Good selection of films included for free.
Great location in the centre of Cardiff across the road to the main shopping centre - we went to a gig at the Cardiff arena - two minutes walk away. Cardiff city centre is so small that everything is in easy walking distance. The bay area is 15-20 minutes walk away, but there are plent of tourist busses.
Really enjoyed the stay.
Only slight problem was car parking is very limited - we had to park in the shopping centre car park - two nights around £30.00. However car park di seem to be secure and had a lift access to the Jihn Lewis Store opposite the hotel.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the suites twice -if you are prepared to pay a little more they are great. A lot o...

Hello Julgra,

Great to read that you enjoyed the stay. I definitely agree that it's worth the little bit extra to stay in one of our suites - the views are fantastic. I hope we can make it three in a row for you soon.

Cheers
Alan

I stayed on the top floor, a business suit with a fantastic view of Cardiff and the Millennium stadium. The room was first class and the bath robe was the fluffiest. The bar was vibrant if a touch expensive. but the hotel is so convenient for the centre of Cardiff and there are many places to eat and drink around. I stayed 2 nights and had meals in the hotel on both evenings, the food was excellent and the service was discrete but friendly. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. One colleague found parking a problem as the hotel car park seemed to be full.

Room Tip: If you can live with the hight go to floor 21 - you will not regret it.

Hello Steve,

Glad you got the chance to experience the views from our top floors; they are pretty special. Fair comment, the bar is a little on the pricey side but we have some nice offers on just now - free pies at half time during the world cup? Two cocktails for £9 at the weekends? Bottles of Peroni for £3 every night? Don't mind if I do. Thanks for letting us know what you think and drop in again soon.

Cheers

Third time we have stayed here - always on the top floor in a great suite. The only downside is that the windows don't open (obvious I suppose) and the bathroom is quite dark with no windows so quite airless. Other than that, the hotel is a real favourite. Spotlessly clean, great helpful staff, nice lounge rooms and breakfast area. Parking on site and one minute walk from shops and Motorpoint. Would definitely recommend it to anyone. Our favourite in Cardiff - would not stay anywhere else!

Booked a 2 night stay online for a good price. The Hotel is situated right in the middle of town - very convenient for shops, restaurants, sightseeing. Checked in by very pleasant Receptionist, explained all about the Hotel and gave us a City Map. The room, on the 6th floor, was spacious, with lovely modern bathroom and hospitality tray. Also extra pillows in the wardrobe as well as an ironing board and iron and hairdryer. Breakfast was included and had great variety, from cold meats and cheeses to cereals and fruit/yoghurt as well as the traditional cooked breakfast. The only niggle we had was that the plates were not kept hot for the cooked breakfast but apart from this minor detail we could not fault the Hotel at all and would certainly go back and recommend to anybody. As a bonus we had beautiful weather and really enjoyed Cardiff Bay and its sights.

We stayed as a couple for a weekend. The staff were wonderful, the food was sublime (especially the breakfast), the room was blissfully quiet, and the hotel was in a perfect, central location. This hotel knocks the socks off other so called 5 star hotels in the city. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I have to say too that very rarely have I come across such consistently friendly and helpful staff, from the reception team to room cleaning staff. Well done and keep it up, and thank you for a great weekend!

Overall, A lovely hotel with a great location and a staff that is trying very hard to please. A few little things to work out..but I think anyone would be pleased with their stay and feel they "got their monies worth"

The staff are very helpful and friendly, always making sure you are happy and have what you need.

A few things I found odd....but, maybe it's just me. Instead of one person servicing your room, they seems to have split it up into 3 or 4 people who come sporadically through out the day..which is a bit annoying when you are stuck in your room trying to do some work. ( I know, most people are probably out all day.) I originally thought that could be remedied by going to the business area ( which is usually a separate room in most hotels..with computers, printers and so on) but, in this hotel, it was a wall along one side of the lobby. The staff were, as always extremely helpful when I needed to print out a few reports....but, it struck me as odd.

But, I am quibbling a bit....as I said, overall lovely hotel with a potential for greatness..and five stars.

Room Tip: I was in a business class room.... worth the upgrade. Better views, high floor, and lots of little...

Thanks for the review. Sorry about the rather odd housekeeping visits, I am looking into that now so thank for pointing it out. I think you make a fair comment about us having great potential; we are still trying to get better every day so watch this space.
