We visited Cardiff for a weekend away and fancied an authentic Indian. We came on to trip advisor to pick one and we were not disappointed. One of the best Indians I have been to. Excellent service and the food was amazing, full if flavour and lota of choice. We were torn between this Indian and another but we definitely made the right choice. We will definitely be visiting next time we come to Cardiff!

We visited this restaurant as a starter venue for a couples night out. It was excellent communication to confirm booking and make amendments to booking, food and service was great.

My Wife and I ate at the Mango House when we visited Cardiff to do some Christmas shopping.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive. A large area of the restaurant was being used for a Christmas Party and the music was very loud. The staff had made this clear when we were offered a table (we hadn't booked) and kept checking that everything was okay, that the music wasn't too loud etc - the music was fine and the atmosphere added to our evening.

The food was of high quality - we had a chicken bhuna and original chicken balti for our main course.

We will certainly eat here again when we next visit Cardiff.

It was our office Christmas party and the company had deciced to book the Mango House Indian restaurant located in Westgate Street in Cardiff.

We allocated a sitting starting at 5pm and finishing at 8pm. This was a little early but we were starting to get peckish and headed down to the restaurant.

First Impressions
The restaurant has a clean modern contemporary look but for this time of year and added to the fact that the meal was booked specifically for ‘Christmas’, there was a complete lack of any Christmas decorations with the only exception of a very small tree by the door which was not actually visible from inside the restaurant. The menu which had been circulated around the office for the previous two weeks mentioned Christmas crackers which were very noticeable of their absence. After a comment to the staff about this lack of festive table adornments we were presented with a single cracker between every two to three people. I was kindly offered by my colleague the traditional paper hat to wear for the duration of our meal. So there we were, myself, and half a dozen others sat dotted around each table among the 45 people attending the dinner in our paper hats.

Service
In general the staff were greeted polite and friendly.

Food
The food ordered was a set Christmas meal for £25 each.
To start with we had one popadom each with a tea spoon each of spicy pickle to share between 6 along with some raita which was a bit watery along with some watery mango chutney.
This was followed by a dinner plate with a selection of starters again to share between 6. 6 chicken wings, 6 florescent pink coloured onion bargees, 6 bite size pieces of marinated chicken and three spoons of curry. It was ok but vey awkward to try and get a spoon of curry off a plate.
For mains we had a selection of 3 curries, 3 sides and 2 naans to share between 6. For a table of men this was not a lot of food. The lamb bhuna was ok. I managed to get one dice sized piece of meat with a bit of sauce. The vegetable curry was nice too. As for the Pasanda everyone on our table passed on this as it was the brightest pink colour you have ever seen and looked, well, like a bowl of pink semolina. No chicken could be seen.

I have been to this restaurant in the past and have had some lovely food but I would strongly NOT recommend going here for any form of Christmas celebration. Atmosphere was poor and the food poorer.

First time dining in Cardiff. Looked on TA for recommendations as we tend to when away.

Wanted an Indian. Tried availability at other places but drawn to Mango House so booked table for 2.

Amazing service and staff. Really lovely. Knowledgable and extremely helpful.

Liked the food, but a little disappointed.

Really liked the carrot and coconut dish with poppadum.

Starter - lamb tikka. Not particularly tender.

Chose the Peri Peri dish. Amazing spices and taste. Didn't like that the chicken was diced. Would prefer pieces of chicken.

Nice side dishes. Not too big.

Difficult to park also. Was chilly in restaurant and very noisy.

Lighting and decor could be more romantic.

Would still recommend.
