Owner description: The fortress sprawls over a huge area making it the largest castle in Wales. Like the famous cheese, the castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. It dominates. Hogs the limelight. Think slumbering giant awaiting a call to arms. It's also a great backdrop for TV and film. It secured a starring role recently in the popular BBC TV series Merlin.

living fairly near it is a relaxing place to have a stroll around and even have a picnic .Caerphilly town centre is 2min away so you can go to a local café or pub if you wish.

A castle surrounded by a moat! Situated in the centre of pretty Caerphilly we found the castle interesting and loved the spiral stone stairs Views from the castle are beautiful There was a wedding in the Great Hall, which, on the warm sunny day we were there, was magical Parking nearby is free on Sundays

Caerphilly Castle is one of the most beautiful Castles that I have had the pleasure of visiting. It is a large Castle with enough of the interior intact that it leaves quite a lot to be explored - hallways, stairwells, etc. The great hall of the Castle was refurbished well enough to include a roof and allow for gatherings and functions - such as the wedding that I attended at the Castle.

The Castle covers a lot of ground within Caerphilly. And the grounds inside the Castle are quite large themselves. There are some great exhibits done by the Castle as well, such as restoring the castle walls to include an exhibit for archery, and elsewhere on the grounds catapults as well.

This is easily one of the best displayed Castles that I've been to and is an absolute must see!

It was a great experience for my daughter to see a true medieval castle. It is huge and the views are really amazing.

We visited this rebuilt castle on a hot day in July. The few displays are well done and simple and it really is the biggest in Wales. They also have some large catapults in the grounds which were interesting. A good spot for a picnic and those like me who love castles!

Thank paul s
