“A great B&B”
Reviewed January 26, 2011

Stayed at Ty Castell whilst on family business. A warm welcome from the host. Room spacious, well decorated and very clean. Bathroom was nicely finished and again very clean. The shower worked very well, in contrast to those often found in B&Bs. Breakfast was served at a time to suit the guest and was very generous. Ty Castell has the big advantage of its own off-street parking. Although I always arrived by car, the property seemed to be in reasonable walking distance of the town centre. The B&B seemed to be used by a lot of contractors on return visits - always a good recommendation. Would definitely stay again.

Warm welcome on arrival. Host puts guests at ease.
Clean, unfussy, and spacious room; with a firm, comfortable bed.
Flexible breakfast times: goes the extra mile to cater for vegetarians.
Easy to locate and close to amenities: near the castle, and trains and buses into Cardiff.

After trying out two others I was delighted to find a B&B which provided clean comfortable and welcoming accommodation at an excellent price. Steve, the owner, has provided excellent hosting services which made me feel more like a guest than a customer. Little touches like flexible breakfast times and the use of a plate and cultlery at night - coupled with very comfortable beds and a willingness to go the extra mile are greatly appreciated. Well done Steve I'll definately stay again if works brings me back to Caerphilly.

This is a little jewel for visitng wales. If visiting in and around cardiff,I would certainly recommend to stay here. Not only the location is brilliant, very near to town and getting in and around cardiff, but also very reasonably priced.Steve was brilliant ,he runs the place and wonderfully, takes care of the smallest things which his guest(s) might require. We had booked the place for a night and were travelling with our parents and a toddler.Having stayed in many guesthouses and hotels all over the country I would certainly say it is one of the best in service I have seen.Steve was very accomodating,he even allowed us the use of the fridge and microwave for keeping and heating baby food/milk.In the morning he personally asked everyone what they would like to have for breakfast and made it himself. We would certainly book it again if visitng wales again and would recommend it to anyone travelling to that area.In one word to sum it the our stay was brilliant thanks to Steve.

The service was second to none. From the time we met Steve until the time we left he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. The room was spotlessly clean as was the huge bathroom!! The tea and coffee making facilities were always fully stocked and the added touch of chocolate bars was well appreciated. The dining area was good as anyone could wish for. The breakfast was excellent. The choice of full English or poached, or boiled eggs , there was also a great selection of cereal, yogurts, jams marmalade and honey to go with the plentiful supply of toast (either white or wholemeal) Steve put himself out to make sure you started the day well.
The location was excellent with a short walk right into the town centre with the impressive Caerphilly Castle. We walked the short distance to the station and within 15 minutes were in Cardiff.
We found lovely eating places for our evening meal without any difficulty.
For a Guest House that is fairly new you cannot fault it and it well deserves its 4* rating.
Thanks .

My partner and I chose to stay at the Ty Castell due to its close proximity to the very impressive Caerphilly castle. What a great choice! The room was spacious, comfortable and very modern, with a big king size bed and sparkling clean bathroom. We loved the extra touches in the room, especially the kitkats! The host, Steve, was very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and excellent quality - a full english, with a selection of yogurts, cereal and fruit, and various juices. There's parking on site and the guest house is in an excellent location for the sights of Caerphilly. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.
