Description: The Caeffatri Bar and Grill is a privately owned bar and restaurant in the heart of Bridgend. The Management has over 20 years experience in the leisure industry and following the success of The Highwayman Inn, Rhoose, decided to embark on a new venture. Situated off Coity Road, close to the Princess of Wales Hospital, The Premier Inn & McArthur Glen outlet village at Junction 35 of the M4, the restaurant is open daily for lunch and evening meal. The Caeffatri has undergone a substantial investment to give it a new lease of life with a fully refurbished bar, restaurant, lounge and function rooms. The new menu has been devised by our Head Chef and offers a wide selection of freshly prepared dishes with all produce being sourced locally. Dishes range from traditional pub classics, steaks, fish dishes, daily specials, Sunday lunches, a freshly prepared children menu and not forgetting the Highwayman infamous Condemned Mans Meal. Opening Times Monday - Thursday: 12-11pm - Meals Served: 12-9pm Friday & Saturday: 12-12 Midnight - Food Served: 12-9pm Sunday: 12-11pm - Meals Served: 12-5pm

This was my second visit, with my family, to this hidden gem of a restaurant. We had the Sunday Lunch option. We greeted by several friendly service staff and lady behind the bar. Our order was taken promptly and the main course (we opted out for the starters) arrived with nice tender meat and plenty of vegetables. It was all very hot, not warm, as in some places I have been to. We were asked throughout the meal if we were happy with the food and if we required any additional service. There was a varied and appealing choice of desserts both hot and cold which equally arrived quickly WITHOUT being felt we were being cattle-herded through to resell the table. I have to also say that we found the interior well presented with interesting décor and spotless toilets. Always a good sign to me!

Having been to this restaurant with a group of friends a couple of times previously where everyone had a lovely meal, we decided to go back. It was just average. The portions were smaller than last time (2 pork chops last time - one this time); the chips are no longer proper home cooked chips; the fish in batter was not as good / different. Other recent reviews still seem to be good; so maybe they were having an 'off day' when we were there. We had an OK time company and atmosphere wise. Nevertheless, we were disappointed with our meals.

We came a few days ago, we all had our meals which were excellent! We all enjoyed it that much that we decided to come back tonight! One of us decided to try the "Condemned Mans Meal" and he failed it but since it was our last time there the staff decided it was appropriate to give him the certificate anyways! Everything was A1 standard and if we were to come down this end of wales again we will most certainly be visiting again!
