Well that was fantastic start to finish.
Went today with my family for my birthday. Friendly staff and customers made for a wellcoming atmosphere. Service was swift but not hurried. The food arrived hot and tasty, i had the rib eye which was cooked to perfection. Joy ( my wife ) had beef wellington which was in her words "beautiful". The desserts were great and it was refreshing to have a cheese board offered. Wine list and beer selection was very good and well priced.
Would i go here again? YES!
Can i recommend the star inn? Yes!
Thanks to the staff and owner for a wonderful afternoon.

Thank Neil J

We visited The Star early on a Saturday evening, and although all the tables were reserved (a good sign), it was no problem for the friendly staff . The Star is a pleasant place to sit with old stone walls and a cosy log burner. Unusually, the restaurant doesn't feel separate from the vibrant bar, and the whole pub had a friendly atmosphere. The butterfly chicken smothered in Welsh rarebit and served on a bed of leeks was sublime, as were the fluffy inside/crispy outside chips, which came in their quirky mini fry baskets. The staff were efficient and attentive, even asking my husband if his steak was done to his liking (after he had devoured half of it!) - that's never happened before! The menu would have something on it to appeal to everyone - some unusual dishes besides the usual pub fare. I can't wait to return to try the Sunday roast.

We really enjoyed our evening, so much so we are writing this review soon after arriving home. Food was excellent, tasted great and was beautifully presented. The atmosphere was great with the restaurant and bar full and everyone enjoying themselves. Staff were lovely and very welcoming, our only criticism would be that we weren't asked often enough about drinks, we have both worked in hotels and restaurants and know it is sometimes difficult when it's busy. We will definitely be returning and recommending an evening at The Star Inn to our friends and family. I would also like to add how nice the pub is looking since the renovation.

We were visiting from London this weekend and went for Sunday lunch at The Star Inn with family. We were absolutely delighted. One of the best Sunday lunches we have had in ages. I'm a vegetarian and they were very helpful and served me a lovely vegetable bake - there was also a veg pie on offer which looked great. The rest of the family had roasts - wow! We were beaten by the portion sizes and the amount of veg - all hot and well cooked. The service was efficient and welcoming and the decor was tasteful and homely. All in all, this will definitely be on our agenda next time we visit. Lucky locals!
