The Star Inn at Treoes is a lovely village pub serving top quality food. The atmosphere is undoubtedly "locals" ... however all are welcome and the staff are really polite and welcoming. The steaks are to die for .... Ken the Chef knows his stuff!!
We started with the soup of the day which was carrot and chilli ... WOW ... that was different and sooooo nice. Also, the chicken liver pate was amazing. 10oz Rib eye steaks were cooked to perfection and the stilton sauce was gorgeous. Chips are hand cut and lush!
Pudding was VERY disappointing :(
Trifle was served in a sundae glass and consisted of a few spoonfulls of tinned fruit (mostly gritty pears) poured on top was tinned custard (which was runny) and a dollop of cream to finish...... YUK!!!!!! A real downfall to end a stunning meal. . . . such a pity the standard dropped at the end of a beautiful starter and main course.
Price wise it is was worth every penny (except the trifle!!) However I was not charged for the trifle thingy!!
Please dont let the trifle comment put you off visisting the Star ... just choose a different pud!! We will go back as they know how to cook a steak!! Menu board is mouth watering, so book now (advisable) and savour a tremendous meal cooked by a brilliant Chef.
