“Lovely food and atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

We recently went to the Masons Arms for a family birthday celebration. They coped with the large numbers very well especially as there were other big tables eating at the same time. The food was really good quality and excellent value - especially the two course special menu at £9.95! The wine list was good and again great value.

“fathers day at the masons arms”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

After returning from a overseas business trip my wife decided to to take myself and our son to the masons arms for fathers day lunch .this had been booked a week before for 13.30 on the Sunday .On arriving at the restaurant at approx 13.20 we where asked to wait in the bar as our table was not yet ready the bar its self was packed out with other families waiting for their tables. After a wait of approx 30mins a table was found for us this was pushed up against the bar in the corner under the air conditioner ,I asked the Waiter if he could move use to the table opposite but he refused as he was setting that table for another family but he would however turn the air conditioner unit above our table off ..He then added another table to the two he was already setting up this meant that there was a gap of approx 12 inches between our table and that one this partially blocked one of the main toilet routs for other customers .so every time someone tried to get past our table got knocked .to continue we then placed our food order the starter arrived in about 20 to 25 mins but the wait for our main course was approx 35 to 40 mins this was after being told on four occasions that it would be there in the next five mins .after finishing our meal i then went to the bar to pay our bill . the barman asked me if everything had been o.k. .so i then polity informed him that i was not happy with the service received and also the seating arrangement whilst i was doing this i was approached from behind by the waiter who had originally seated us asking me in a very impolite manner what my problem was and as it was fathers day this was the best i could expect no apology was offered or given as i would have expected .The reason that this occurred was very simple two many bookings had been taken for the day and the staff where unable to cope .And the attitude of some of the staff was that they could not care less .what people thought ..Now as i travel the world on business and visit many restaurants and dinning facilities i do know what i am taking about when it comes to service and staff attitudes to customers and quite frankly the masons arms goes to the bottom of my list .And i would never visit again.

“Lovely food and atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

The staff were great with a Friday evening family meal for a party of fourteen, and managed several other lage groups as well. Food was great and good value, the menu nicely varied and changes from time to time. Try the 'Mason's Smokies'!

“Lovely food, lovely evening!!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

I visited the Masons on 25/05/2013 with my wife and another couple who are friends of ours, and once again, could not fault the service or the meal. I have visited here in the past, and cannot complain one bit about the food and felt it deserved a noteworthy review.

The restaurant has a modern feel to it, and the staff are always happy and welcoming. There were 2 large parties in the restaurant and after ordering our meals, the staff were apologising for the wait............but to be honest, we didn't wait that long at all.

Food arrived in good time, well presented, piping hot and was delicious. I had the chicken and steak combo, my wife had the Italian Job, and our friends had the steak and ribs combo and the curry burger. Everyone of us enjoyed every mouthful, this was evident by total silence from us whilst enjoying our food :)

We managed desert (somehow) and they were incredible. 2 of us had the devlish chocolate desert, and I think the other 2 had the strawberry cheese cake. Each desert was MASSIVE in size, and none of us could finish them, even though they were DELICIOUS.

We all had 2 courses each and a round of drinks, and I think it all came to around £84, which is around the norm I guess.

I look forward to another visit here, and highly recommend the masons.
