“Extremely Clean, decent size room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2007

We stayed here for 2 nights on an award stay March 4-6, 2007.

Check-in was quick. Room was on 3rd floor. Decent size, Fit me and my husband and toddler just fine.

Room had a full size bed with a couch and desk. There was free internet service available in the room if you brought your laptop.

Bathroom is set up in a practical manner where one can use the toilet in private, and another can use the shower and sink with ease.

Complimentary breakfast was a good variety of pastries, breads, cereals, yogurts and juices/coffee/tea.

The room was extremely clean. I wasn't quite sure what to expect since it is not a 4 star property, however, was quite pleased. The room totally met our needs for the 2 nights we were in the area. Mall, Grocery store, restaurant and Starbucks closeby.

Slight exaggeration about the temperature in the room, but we arrived late on a wet night after a long drive from Essex and a decidedly chilly room was not welcome. There was no obvious way to turn the heat up either.
I booked a twin room using my Club points. The only twin room they had was a smoking room and although the corridor and room smelt as you walked in it was not overpowering and had not permeated into the bedding. The room was large enough for 2 with desk and chair and a small stool. There was a hanging space with 6 hangers and plenty of draws. There was a small kettle, but no fridge and plenty of lights.
The bathroom was typical Holiday Inn Express with a large shower and a bathroom door which opened on to the toilet to create a separate cubicle. The door would not close on to the bedroom without locking it as it was very much smaller than the opening (not so small that there was a gap though).
The hotel had extensive notices that WiFi was available, but I did not bring a laptop so can't comment on that.
The breakfast was a small help yourself buffet of cereal, grapefruit, yogurts, toast, rolls and croissants. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there is a Harvester next door which is excelent value.
In the vacinity is a Sainsburys (with very cheap petrol for the area) and a McArthur Glen designer outlet.

Booked through central reservations by phone. No problems adding extra rooms for other family members.
Rooms clean but, as other reviewers note, there is a lot of noise outside around the petrol station at night, Breakfast was ok but not well organised so not so great if you are in a hurry. Tables were not cleared promptly. Bar in Harvester was ok but expensive for Wales. All in all a pleasant stay with few problems. Would return.
Tip for those with weak wrists: bring your own soap; the wall mounted dispensers require a lot of pressure!

  • Liked — Clean and fresh
  • Disliked — Poorly organised breakfast
  • Tips/Secrets — Soap dispensers need a lot of pressure. Good discount shopping 5 mins walk.

Thought this was a good hotel for a business trip. They had my booking information all organized. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was one of those without a tub. Continental breakfast in the morning. Overall a good stay in Bridgend.

I have stayed here around 20 times in the last year (for work). The rooms are always clean and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The only complaint is that the rooms facing onto the garage are sometimes a bit noisy due to late night antics at the petrol station.

Will def stay here again and again.
