The 40 minute walk through the sand dunes of Merthyr Mawr Warren is worth the effort to get to the beach and let the wind blow away the cobwebs. If you want to save your legs, then opt for a pony trek from Ogmore Stables and a canter along the sand.

Take a picnic and the dog. Park at the castle. Walk to the river mouth. Go sledging down the dunes. A great free day out for families.
