“Exotic nights...”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

We were invited to dine here last Saturday night by a Maggie, good friend of my wife. Le Raj is clearly very popular and there was a steady turnover that night as parties of people ate and left , to be replaced by the queues forming at reception. The ubiquitous pompadums were quickly served, along with a range of appetisers, to allow us to study and discuss the wide-ranging menu options, some I don't remember seeing before along with the more usual bhuna, basmati, and tandoori dishes. I plumbed for roast duck in a pathali sauce which was good but not great, after sharing plates of the very good Le Raj platter with my wife, her friend Maggie and her friend, Jane, a South African businesswoman, who was particularly impressed with the fare. Afzul Khan, the proprietor, busies himself organising every little detail ensuring that all his guests enjoy themselves, although the drinks orders were a little chaotic with such a crush of people using this excellent restaurant on the night we were there. Bill came to £75 in total, which we all thought was good value with drinks and starters included. We will return.

“Back to the old standards of tasteless food!”
Reviewed June 28, 2014 via mobile

I have been here quite a lot over the last 18 months and it's been really good, but my visit on 28 6 14 was my last!
The starters of fish cakes and prawn purée were good, and that's it!
The lamb boona was a tasteless mess of watery brown liquid with pieces of lamb!
Complained to the boss and a £10 reduction.
I feel they are too busy with meals and takeaways and the standard, sadly has gone back to the old days when I never rated the place!
Won't be returning, too big for their boots and the meals are suffering, either that or get a new chef!

“Good Indian restaurant”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

Went early on a Saturday night, staff attentive but not overbearing, and the decor and ornaments were a bit more interesting than standard indian restaurants. Food - good choice with all the usual dishes and some south Indian were a bit more adventurous and unusual - like Goan crab bhuna. Food was prompt and hot and tasty. Naans light and fresh. Prices reasonable but not cheap - most dishes 7 to 9 pounds. Would return if we are in the area

“Nice for a regular local curry.”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

Been here a few times now and not been disappointed yet. Staff are very friendly and menu is good; it usually takes me 10 minutes to decide what to have here. Every time we leave it feels like we have eaten too much, but enjoyed every mouthful. Prices are reasonable but perhaps we should order less because the final bill always seems on the high side, but not so high that we don't want to go back. Takes us about 10 minutes to get here and we enjoy having such a good local Indian.

Our last night out after a holiday in Wales and discovered this restaurant. Wish we had found it before. Very pleasant venue with excellent staff and service. Very popular and advisable to book.
