Stayed on business for 1 night with colleague and found staff and service to be excellent. The restaurant served lovely food and again the waitressing staff were very attentive. My room was newly refurbished and was very clean and modern for such an old building, which I thought was very tastefully fully done and did not take away from the charm of the building - a lovely stay and would recommend to anyone who was looking for a nice stay near to Bridgend.

My daughter got married here on 29.3.2014 and we stayed for two nights. really nice location, hotel in great condition rooms really nice, wedding went without a hitch. The staff worked really well for the wedding with everything well organised. breakfast was really nice bar snacks were good and very large, if you order the sandwiches get one between two as they are that large. \Only disappointing thing was the evening prior to the wedding we had a private dining room that was very nice and had the al a carte menu at £33 for two courses, six chose the rib-eye with triple cooked chips, this was disgusting, the triple cooked chips were burned dark brown soggy as they were full of grease and the staff had to quickly rustle up some normal chips , four of the steaks were sent back as they were ordered med-well but came to the table raw, they were cut rather too thin to give a succulent pink finish. My wife had the pasta dish that was also disappointing and would have cost £6 in a chain pub, Desserts were tasteless. As a wedding venue they would score 5 out of five as a restaurant I would only give one out of five.

Dear Reviewer, thank you for taking the time and reviewing the hotel. I am happy to read that your daughter’s wedding went well and that everyone enjoyed themselves, the staff work hard to ensure that all weddings are organised down to the smallest detail to ensure they run smoothly for the bride and grooms big day!
I am sorry to read of your disappointment with the evening meal the night prior to the wedding, your points have been discussed with the relevant department and they join me in assuring you that this is not typical of the hotel standard. I would like to inform you that the issues raised have been looked into.

The entire team at The Coed-Y-Mwstwr are fully committed to guest satisfaction and pride ourselves on our attention to detail and customer care. It is with this in mind that we welcome guests’ comments and suggestions on all aspects of the hotel. Only with guest’s feedback can we strive to maintain and improve our standards.

I have stayed here about half a dozen times over the last year and it's always been such a pleasure. The location is perfect for work and in beautiful grounds. The house is really special when the fires are roaring. It's a great place to unwind after a long day. The restaurant is excellent - the menu changes daily and it always includes local seasonal dishes. The Welsh Breakfast is superb and really sets you up for the day. Plus it's great value!

Dear reviewer, thank you for writing a review on the hotel. We are very lucky on our location and building, we are able to offer a relaxing country manor house feel hotel only a stone throw away from local business. We try and offer all guests a home from home feeling when staying at the Coed-Y-Mwstwr hotel and we strongly believe a good hearty Welsh breakfast is one of the best ways to achieve this and as mentioned it’s a superb way to set you up for your busy day ahead.

All the staff look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Coed-Y-Mwstwr is a great hotel with a really nice friendly atmosphere. I stayed here on business for one night in March and will hopefully be returning when I am next in the area.
I had a meal in the bar on the evening that I stayed and it was very well presented and tasted wonderful. I ordered the duck pate and the only issue that I had, and it is was a tiny one, was the proportion of the portion. The amount of duck pate was HUGE and I got two tiny pieces of toast about the size of two fifty pence pieces. When I asked for some more, I got two more tiny pieces. Breakfast was a pleasure and I thoroughly enjoyed the smoked haddock and poached eggs which I would recommend to anyone. Two more observations - the bathroom in the bedroom I stayed in was 'tired' and had seen better days and the wi-fi wasn't working in the room. Minor things which didn't spoil a lovely stay in a lovely hotel.

Gorgeous rooms, smashing service from friendly and very professional staff and sumptuous food! Such a warm welcome place and the fire in the lounge is just lovely to flop in front of in those enormous sofas! Great for the weary traveller!

Room Tip: Coach house is super quiet!

Dear Reviewer, thank you for taking the time and writing a review on the hotel. I am happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. The lounge area does offer some very comfy sofas and chairs, if you are lucky enough to be able to secure the highly sort after sofas in front of the fire there is nothing better than relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere with a roaring log fire. The coach house is a lovely building that offers a quieter and more secluded feeling to the main house.

Once again thank you for taking the time and writing a review, we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel soon.

Myself and Mrs Hood returned to the Coed-y-Mwstwr, after we had our wedding reception here over 4 years ago for a late Valentine, early birthday treat.

Where we, yet again, could not fault the Hotel one little bit.

We had booked in under the fine dining experience on offer, with an Executive Double Room and the Wine Upgrade package.

Check in was easy and straight forward and the front office staff very helpful and welcoming, ensuring we had a suitable reservation time for our evening meal.

Well, what an amazing experience we had with our evening meal, certainly fine dining at its best. We were initially seated in the lounge area m, where our orders were taken and we sat enjoying the atmosphere that this charming hotel has to offer, while reminiscing about our last visit, our wedding day.

We where then shown through to the Eliot Restaurant by our waitress for the evening, who was happy, polite, and welcoming, and looked after every tiny last detail to ensure a wonderful meal, which Mrs Hood even summarised as 'the best meal we have ever had out' and I have to agree as the food was out of this world.

We returned to our room, ordered our breakfast to be delivered to our room in the morning and settled in for a very comfortable full nights sleep, what with leaving our band of little merry men behind with Parents we where making the most of a full nights sleep. Yet we could have fitted the whole family into the bed.

Breakfast was delivered to our room at the time requested, and laid out for us to enjoy, which we did once again.

Check out after a lazy morning was swift and good, with once again friendly staff at the front desk.

Thank you Coed-y-Mwstwr for again, providing a fantastic experience, with friendly, welcoming staff, Great food and comfortable surroundings, what a little gem you are.

We hope to see you again soon.
