no too tough a hike and worth it for the fabulous views. weather can change quickly on the beacons so pick a nice day unless you are an experienced walker

like very much these mountains, which have lovely valleys and many walking possibilities. There are not many people here.
We like especially the Black Mountains part, and the place of LLanthony with an old church.

We did this walk two days ago on 6th May 2013. It was a beautiful warm sunny day and there were lots of like minded people to share our experience with along the way. It seemed a long hard slog up to the top, but my goodness it was so worth it to marvel at the views that awaited us. We took the moderate route up from the side of the activity centre, then the slightly easier route down. Well worth the effort.

Walked up to Pen Y Fan today with a 6 and 11 year old, lovely warm day so that helped. It's a Long walk and quite tough on the legs however it was a lovely pleasant walk. We took the path to the left of the Storey Arms and it was very steep to start but lovely views. The views at the top were well worth the effort and all enjoyed the walk down.
