Hen Glyn
Reviewed July 10, 2011

I've been to Hen Glyn twice now - once in during a dark and wet autumn, and again during the very sunny tail end of spring. At both times of year, it was very special. Despite the wonderful scenery on your doorstep, it's can be difficult to leave the comfort behind, and I lost days to bird watching and sitting in the hot tub on my spring visit. It is equipped with a good kitchen and a large fridge, further removing the need to ever leave. My one warning would be around the stairs to the bedrooms - they are so steep (and an original feature, so cannot be replaced) that they potentially preclude the elderly or infirm from staying here.

Such a beautiful, clean cottage, well equipped with everything you will need for your stay, with a wonderful hot tub... it was the perfect mini break for my boyfriend and I.

I was surprised to see only one review for it here on trip advisor, the three guest books are full to the brim with compliments about the property. The owners are very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. A trip to Pen y Cae Inn will set you back quite a bit, main meals from £15.99, but it is really worth it, the food is to die for!

If you are thinking of staying at Hen Glyn, you will not be disappointed at all. Be prepared for a great holiday! :)

Hen Glyn is a beautiful cottage, which has been lovingly restored by its wonderful Welsh owners. It is on a working farm, which adds charm to the accommodation. We stayed here in August 2008, and found the place (and people of Wales) to be amazing. The location requires a car, but it is definately worth the drive through the beautiful Welsh countryside. The accommodation sleeps four comfortably - one double bed and two single beds. There is another couch upstairs, which may be a pullout bed - I'm not certain - this room, however, is equipped with TV, DVD, video games, board games, books, anything that children may need. Down the (very very steep) stairs, (more like a ladder), is the spacious lounge room, bathroom, kitchen (with washing machine/dryer) and dining room. The fire created a beautiful ambience on a foggy cold night. We just loved it here. The locals were fun, the pub food was great, and we hope to travel back to Europe, just to visit here again!
