“Excellent in so many ways”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2007

It’s hard to find fault with The Coach House. Everything, from the welcome, to the room, to the breakfast was wonderful. A lot of work has clearly gone into this property to make it a truly comfortable and stylish place to stay. I’d loved to have stayed here for longer, just to have sampled all the wonderful breakfast options. The only slight niggles are the noise from the road and credit cards are not accepted, but these are minor inconveniences.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments about us and the Coach House. In December we are having new double glassing and will be taking cards - thank you again. Stay again with us and we will upgrade you free to a king room . Tony

As you all know July has been one of those months where you can't plan anything unless you expect to get wet?! We decided to risk it and go hiking in the Beacons, the waterfalls would be spectacular even if the weather wasn't.

The Coach House was the start of a great weekend, the accommodation and hospitality was second to none, you could not wish for anything better at a price that was extremely reasonable - £65 per night?!

The only issue that we could raise was that we are not used to living on a busy road and there was some noise from the traffic which started around 6am but if you walk hard enough then you're too tired to notice...

Brecon itself was a little disappointing in terms of pubs and restaurants, having said that Mark did recommend a couple of places to eat, The George Hotel and Roberto's Italian Restaurant - both were excellent.

The Coach House was in excellent location for the town and the walking and I would recommend this to anyone.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2007

My partner and I stayed at this B&B on the 9th June, and have to say that the hospitality of Marc and Anthony was absolutely sublime.

We went to Brecon Beacons for the weekend to do some hiking, and didn't bother booking any accommodation prior to going.

We were ringing around on Saturday afternoon from a list that we had gotten from the Tourist Advisory Centre near the Brecon Beacons, and thought that the Coach House would be expensive as it was one of the only 4* B&B's listed. We had quite a bit of trouble finding a room this night, but we absolutely couldn't be happier with the Coach House.

The rooms are very modern and contemporary, and they have Free Wi-Fi in the rooms, so if we had known prior, we most certainly would have taken our laptop with us.

The only minor complaints that we have about the place are:

1. Ceilings are not insulated so you can hear the people above you walking on the floorboards. Considering the general clientele that a place like this would have, I don't think there'd be that many people walking around very late at night anyway. This didn't actually both us, but could see how it may be a problem.

2. Our room didn't have a proper shower and only had a hand-held. With this in mind though, we thought that the rooms were so nice that we didn't mind at all.

The property is on a main road, but we didn't have any problems with traffic noise at all, and suspect that it may have had double-glazing (though we didn't check).

Something else that MUST be mentioned is their breakfast - WOW!!!!! Considering that Marc and Tony run this place themselves, the food was superb - absolutely first rate. They definitely don't skimp on the portions either, so if you like an excellent quality, hearty meal, then this is definitely the place for you.

The cost for the room for the night, including the breakfast for 2 was £65, which in our opinion was a bargain. There was another place that was offering 3* accommodation, and it had a shared bathroom, and it was going to be £45 - in our opinion, the £20 extra was absolutely worth every penny.

Be aware about Brecon though - you may struggle to find somewhere to eat if you arrive later in the evening. Marc and Tony put us onto an Italian restaurant called Roberto's which was pretty good though.

We are planning on more hiking in Brecon and the surrounding area, and we'll definitely stay at the Coach House again.

Highly recommended!
