My wife and l were over-the-moon with the location and property. We wanted for nothing and knew if there was anything that we needed all we had to do was ask Valerie and her husband, and charming and pleasant couple who were so kind.
The location is ideal for walkers and sightseers alike. And if it's just a place of peace and quiet you need to get away from the business of life, you couldn't ask for a better place.
I highly recommend this place and wouldn't hesitate to use it again if l find myself on holiday in the same area again in the future.
Words cannot really explain just how great a place it is - Book it and find out for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you! It is a great pleasure to welcome guests to share our home. It is indeed a tranquil retreat from the pressures of modern living yet within easy reach of all the walking hiking or river activities that the Brecon Beacons had to offer. Hope to see you again in the future. Valerie

“Fantastic Cottage on Edge of the National Park”

The Aberyscir Coach House provided the perfect base for us during the Hay Festival week. The accommodation is excellent with a small but well equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge with a great wood burner, surprisingly large bathroom with both bath and shower and a comfortable double bedroom. We arrived to a welcome pack including wine and the owner’s ultra-fresh free range hen’s eggs. The house is set in the grounds of the owners’ house who were on hand to offer local advice. Walking out the back door provides a fantastic view and the sound of the nearby river. There are plenty of short, medium and longer walks that can be taken directly from the property. Brecon is a few minutes’ drive away for supermarkets, restaurants and takeaways. We visited Hay for the festival on most days of our stay and it took exactly 35 minutes each time, despite this being the busiest time of the year – literally no traffic to notice!

Thank you for the lovely review. I do really think combining the Hay Festival with trips into the park is the best combination as you indeed found to be the case. The 35 minute drive to the Festival is easy to do. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Valerie

“A Very Happy New Year...”

We wanted to escape the New Year madness and we made the perfect choice. It was fantastic to spend a few days together in total peace in such beautiful surroundings. The cottage was wonderful and had everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. Valerie and Peter were great hosts and the welcome pack (including Welsh cakes, eggs, jams, champagne to welcome in the New Year to name but a few things) was much appreciated and a lovely touch.

Our visit gave us an amazing start to 2016 and we would definitely recommend the Coach House to anyone looking for comfort, peace and incredibly beautiful views - not least the incredible view of the stars we were lucky enough to see whilst there. You definitely don't get that in the light polluted city!

Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you both and share the peace and tranquility of our surroundings. Even the stars came out despite the wet weather. We live in a really dark sky area where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

What an amazing rental, so many extras included, the essentials in the kitchen, tea towels, squeezy, hand wash, home made jam, the eggs from across the fence, welsh cakes ( great toasted, with cheese): fire lighting parcels -gift wrapped, and endless logs for the wood burning stove which is very effective,, with super thick bathroom towels, and luxurious bedlinen, its a surprise I ever made it out of the front door. And that was helped by directions as to where to walk, where to view different outcrops, where to see the best of.... I have such respect for any host (ess) who can provide such a charming and individually attentive care per visitor. And there are sheep, chickens and dogs to talk to each day should you wish!

“Lovely country cottage!!!!”

Me and my partner spent the first week of our 10 day visit to Wales. The cottage is situated up a driveway in a quiet quiet area in the countryside (important to have a car). It is just next to the house of Valerie, the owner. Also, there are lots of sheep close by who will pose for a photo with you :) The view around is incredible! The cottage is very cute and cosy. It has a well equipped kitchen, living room with a flat screen tv, bathroom with shower and a bedroom. Also, we were left with complimentary eggs, coffee, tea, salt, pepper, sugar, a bottle of wine (could choose between red or white) to name a few. Though the fridge was not big enough to keep all the stuff we brought from the supermarket, there is another fridge in the barn that Valerie allowed us to keep the stuff that did not fit in the other fridge. The owner has two Labradors that are so cute, cuddly and friendly. After a day out exploring, it was fun to come back to the area and say hello to them.

Last but not least, Valerie is so friendly and was so nice to us. I enjoyed chatting with her. If there was anything we needed, she always helped out. She even printed the boarding pass for our return flight.

Trying to sum up what the cottage is; friendly and helpful owner, beautiful cottage with a well equipped kitchen, lovely quiet area away from the town.

If we ever stay in the area again, this will definitely be first preference!!

We have just stayed 3 days here - this cottage should be a well kept secret. It is wonderfully appointed, very comfortable, has everything you need for a perfect stay and situation is great looking out over the hills of Brecon Beacon National Park and very close to Brecon. Owners Valerie and Peter are very welcoming and the welcome pack provided to guests is amazing. There is so much to do in this area that we hope we will return and will definitely stay here.

“Pick this one!!!”
Reviewed March 12, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

If, like me, you've opened up hundreds of tabs for various different cottages in the Brecon Beacons in an attempt to find a place to stay - pick this one.

Area: Conveniently located just a short drive from Brecon and yet rural enough to hear nothing but the birds in the trees and the babbling brook at the bottom of the garden. As part of the Dark Sky Reserve, I've never seen so many stars. There are beautiful walks both from the doorstep and also a short drive away and the garden has a stunning view of Pen y Fan and Corn Du.

Cottage: Immaculate yet homely - a lovely log burner, private patio, bath and an exceptionally comfortable bed make this the perfect place to return to after a day roaming the hills. Everything you could possibly require is provided - I am on O2 and had perfect signal and wifi. The welcome pack included freshly laid eggs, wine, tea, coffee, homemade jams, milk, welsh cakes, chocolate and toiletries.

Owners: The perfect balance of welcoming, helpful and friendly and yet still ensuring complete privacy. I borrowed their maps and walking guides and they could give excellent advice on what to do and how to get to places in the local area.

Close those other tabs and just book this place - I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Enjoy your holiday!
