We stayed in Brecon Castle on the 5 Sept for 2 nights for our honeymoon. I did email before hand to see if they could do something to make our stay that bit extra special but nothing was done.

We were in room 42, The room was quite small, but nice. My only issue was as it was on the top floor the ceilings were slanted and my husband could not stand up go to go the toilet.

Also there was a free bottle of water which had been opened by a pervious guest and not been changed by the cleaners.

And the bath was not clean, found dirty marks on it.

Food was amazing and the staff were friendly. A bit of music in the bar would have been nice.

We have had a lovely few days at the Castle hotel brecon friendly staff .lovely food unfortunately the room's let it down big time very daTed and well over due for revamp. Only one bottle of water for 3 night stay. Mybe the price should reflect this until revamp is done.

Clean hotel rooms, well decorated restaurant. Lovely views from the hotel. However the staff let this place down.
Staff were unhelpful and unwelcoming except the blonde receptionist we encountered the following morning, who was pleasant.
The place seemed understaffed even though it was dead quiet. The staff we encountered (bar/restaurant) looked really unhappy, no eye or verbal contact.
We seated ourselves for breakfast, when the waitress came out she did chat and ask what we wanted. The older guy and young lad completely ignored guests and looked miserable. Management need to shake this place up it could be so much better. For us a welcoming environment is a huge part of a stay.
Must add young female staff were sat on a step smoking outside the hotel in morning on their fag break. Gives the hotel a bad look.

Signed in quickly & assigned room 18, lots of reviews state the wonderful views from bedrooms, ours was a roof 30ft away & sky.
With this said it was a very nice room, super furniture & an excellent modern en suite.
The bed though was a small double, most hotels nowadays have queen or kingsize.
There was a problem with the evening meal our voucher stated up to £16.45 for 2c meal, I wanted this & was told it wasn't correct, I again disputed this & then was told it was only on a Sunday, nowhere on the voucher was this stated. We were given another menu & we both had Carrot & coriander soup which was delicious & the chicken burger which was very good.
The breakfast was very good but the sausage very bready & poor.
The grounds & the views from were superb.
All in all a very enjoyable stay.

good, but not good, not bad either. Its a strange hotel, (specials deal) as it gives double messages. The room, very well suited for wheel chair access, very spacious, had a strange tho not terrible smell, cheap furniture and yet a lovely big wet room,
Very comfy bed, yet the headboards look out of place, the tv at an awkward angle if your on the bed, and wiring for the kettle was an extension lead fixed to the wall. It has a beautiful huge conference room that would make an excellent dance hall, with a view to die for over the town and toward the Mountains. It has lovely art deco tiling on the floor, yet a carpet thro the hall that has seen better days. The dining room had two compartments, clearly one for the first class residents, and a dining area like you might find in a modern dinner, primitive but functional. Guess where i was seated. I had the set (Voucher deal) evening meal, The starter ( Seafood in broth) stated it was GF (Gluten Free) but can with real bread on top, but they provide GLUTEN FREE bread, which is a huge bonus, which they replaced when asked. But it was tasteless, uninspiring and poor, The main (grilled haddock on Mash, with lemon butter and capers), was lovely, the mixed green veg cooked to crunchy perfection, I really enjoyed it. The Hotel is ideally located too. But it is a bit tired/dated, could do with some investment. Sadly the real Castle adjoining it is neglected and derelict. (Full of Pidgeon Pooh). So in conclusion, its a it of everything, not great, not terrible, great location, and good value.
