“Two nights in Brecon”
Reviewed May 18, 2013 via mobile

We arrived at priory mill, the site looked very clean and well set out. It was due to be a wet night and weekend so there where only 6 or 8 tents this weekend. The owners where very pleasant and helpful we could choose to pitch our two tents wherever we wanted.

The facilities toilet, showers and wash up area where clean and tidy, hot water in the area to have awash, however, I could wel imagine that in the height of summer, or busy weekends that the facilities would be under pressure due to there only being one toilet for males and two for females. Only two showers which costs 50p for 4 mins. It could do with another shower block the same as the current at the other end of the site.

But saying all of this, we had a good weekend, and we only had a 5 min walk into town.

I would use this site again. But out of season.

Spent 3 nights over Easter at the site. It was a very cold/icy weekend, about -5 at night, so only about 6 tents in total braving it! The campsite is naturally idyllic - pitch where you like. Susie made us feel so at home and welcome! It is sited adjacent to a road, however you just don't notice - the sound of the gentle river just lets you forget! Facilities are basic, but everything you need and just the way we like it! Having a campfire was a great way to finish off the evening, with everything to hand - portable fire pits and bags of wood at £5.00/bag. Ideally located, Brecon is about 10 minutes walk, plus easy access to the mountains, waterfalls etc. The chickens are lovely - just wandering around the site! Will definitely be back - heaven! Thank you Susie!

We stayed 2 nights at Priory Mill and found it perfect for what we needed. The setting is beautiful and although it is near a road that isn't noticeable and the main sounds are the river flowing by and the wildlife surrounding. We used the free fire pits and had a campfire both nights which was much needed at the end of September. Facilities were great and clean (although the campsite was quite, they might get very busy in peak season). A toilet trip at 4am was well worth it for the stunning night sky and stars! Great walks near by and dinner at the close by Felin Fach Griffin pub was outstanding.

This campsite is lovely. Quiet, well looked after and natural. I fell asleep listening to an owl hooting nearby. Saw a dipper in the river running through the campsite. The option of evening campfires were an added attraction.

Things that we loved at Priory Mill
1-The fire pit. Camping isn't camping without a fire.
2-Small idealic site-beautiful.
3-The cleanest bathrooms!!!
4- The stars.
5- Moss (the dog) made my children smile.
Very chilled and relaxed small site. Great ethos not to over crowd. Well thought through with nice touches. We didn't want to leave.
Thank you.

If you are looking for a small-scale, low-impact, secluded place to camp, our riverside meadow may provide it. It's only a ten-minute walk from the Georgian market town of Brecon, yet the only buildings visible are our farmhouse and watermill, which provide the perfect backdrop to the camping meadow. Alternatively there is also a one bedroom holiday cottage (advance booking essential). The Granary is accessed up a flight of stone steps beyond the farmhouse. Quiet and secluded, overlooking a part of the river and ancient woodland that is separate from the campers meadow, the cottage also has its own garden. ... more   less
